POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: District Athletic and Activities Director
REPORTS TO: High School and Middle School Building Principals
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Athletic and Activities Director will help the principal in creating a school environment favorable to learning and personal growth. Responsibilities include those related to assisting the principal in day to day facilitation, operation and management of school athletic and activities programs, the facility, its students, staff and learning environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in implementing the district’s philosophy of education, its policies and rules governing instruction, student activities and conduct.
- Assist in the enforcement of Federal, State and District mandates, policies, rules and regulations.
- Assist the building principal in the day-to-day tasks related to running the school and providing for the necessities of the pupils, staff, patrons and community.
- Administer the school’s attendance/tardy policy, including the assigning of appropriate student consequences.
- Have primary responsibility for maintaining and growing successful athletic and activity programs that support student growth and success.
- Assist in the supervision of extra-curricular events.
- Be familiar with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act in order to assist with initiating and implementing appropriate planning for addressing unique needs of pupils.
- Maintain professional competence and growth through participation in district provided and self-selected staff development opportunities.
- Perform such other tasks and responsibilities as may be assigned by the building principal or Superintendent of Schools.
- Title IX administration, compliance, investigation, and documentation
- Athletic and Activities event supervision
- Hiring and evaluating coaches
- Appraising/mentoring/monitoring activities and coaching staff at both secondary buildings
- Effective and efficient budget management
- Effective and efficient communication with league/school administors
- Effective and efficient communication with clubs and activities sponsors at FMHS and FMMS
- Effective and efficient communication and game management for all officials working Fort Morgan events.
- Adherence to all Colorado High School Activities Association bylaws
- Scheduling of all related athletic events and activities within the league and school district.
- Scheduling community use of school facilities
- Facilitate year/season coaches meeting, including rules reviews and CPR/First Aide certification.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Advanced graduate work in the area of school administration.
- Hold or be eligible for Type D certificate/license issued by the Colorado Department of Education.
- Such alternatives or additional qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate or acceptable.
Salary : $79,967 - $94,917
