FMI's manufacturing facility has been a leading solutions provider of high temperature materials and composites for more than 50 years, serving the Department of Defense and NASA. The focus in Maine is on multidirectional reinforced Carbon/Carbon (C/C) and Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMCs) that enable high-temperature components such as: thermal protection systems, re-entry vehicle nose tips as well as rocket motor throats and nozzles.
Our materials are being used on ground-breaking space initiatives such as the Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle and the heat shield for NASA's Mars 2020 mission, important missile programs, airfoils in commercial and military jet engines, and as lightweight armor for U.S. military ground vehicles.
Your role: FMI is seeking an EHS Manager who will be responsible for developing and managing the functions of Environment, Health, and Safety for our Spirit New England sites. As the EHS Manager, you will have the opportunity to develop and execute all EHS programs to meet company and all regulatory requirements. This will include EHS Procedures to ensure compliance with legal requirements and internal policies as well as HAZMAT programs.

Job Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee occupational medical services to provide to site personnel
- Act as a liaison with EHS governmental agencies and local fire departments
- Manage all internal and regulatory audits
- Provide technical assistance to site personnel to address EHS issues including review of internal procedures for safety related concerns
- Conduct internal audits to ensure policies and procedures are met
- Develop and administer Emergency Response and Business Continuity Plan for the site
- Prepare reports and maintain records to comply with regulatory requirements
- Responsible for administering environmental permits (air, water)
- Administer programs to achieve a safe and injury free workplace
- Oversee and/or deliver EHS training as required
- Respond to customer requests for information
- Assist site management in setting EHS goals for the site
- Develop a high-performance work team, Supervise and coach subordinates
- Maintain a strong working relationship throughout the entire organization, thru coaching, training and empowerment
- Maintain knowledge of OSHA Safety, Occupational Health and EPA regulations
- Serves as the site Radiation Safety Officer
- Degree in EHS or related technical field
- 7-10 years EHS experience
- Must possess Certificate in Hazardous Waste Management in Maine
- In-depth knowledge of governmental regulations
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbal/written
- Demonstrated leadership/coaching abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft suite of programs
- Excellent problem solving skills and ability to understand a variety of technical issues
- Ability to handle complex projects and multi-task
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to collaborate with all organizational levels and outside governmental agencies
- Demonstrated ability to handle emergencies successfully
