What are the responsibilities and job description for the Licensed Massage Therapist position at Focal Massage?
Here’s the deal:
Focal Massage is a therapeutic massage practice focused on solving pain, not masking it. We specialize in short, targeted 30-minute sessions built on a proven system that addresses the root cause of pain through a combination of manual therapy, postural assessment, fascial release, and corrective strategies.
Our clients are hurting. Like, actually hurting. And what we do is strategic, effective, and rooted in real movement science. We’re the ones people come to when they’ve already tried “everything else” and we get results.
We’re growing fast and we’re looking for massage therapists who are ready to level up. You don’t need 20 years of experience or fancy credentials. What you do need is a massage license, sociability, and a desire to actually help people.
If you’re still reading, we might be your new favorite place.
What You’ll Actually Do
- Deliver focused, deep therapeutic work during 30-minute sessions (no fluff, no random rubbing — this is the real deal)
- Lead new clients through a detailed intake:
- Postural and mobility testing
- Injury and pain history review
- Strategy planning for their session and beyond
- Use techniques like:
- Trigger point therapy
- Fascial release
- Compression work
- Cupping and scraping (don’t worry, we’ll teach you if those sound like medieval tools)
- Take real notes, educate clients on their bodies, and help build out a plan that actually gets them better
What We’re Looking For
We don’t need perfection. We need heart, presence, and a willingness to learn.
Must-Haves:
- Tennessee massage license
- Open mind and humble spirit, we’ll teach you everything you need
- Good with people. Can hold a conversation but knows when to shut up and let someone breathe.
- Passionate about healing, movement, and learning how the body actually works
- Reliable. Like, actually shows up when they say they will.
Nice-to-Haves (but not required):
- Interest in injury recovery, posture, or movement science
- Experience as a trainer or athlete
- Ability to laugh at your own posture when we break down your anterior pelvic tilt together
Why You’ll Love This
- Mentorship & Real Training: You’ll learn an entire therapeutic system built to fix people. Not just rub the same spot over and over.
- Beginner-Friendly: No experience? No worries. We'll walk with you step-by-step until you’re confident and crushing it.
- Clients Who Actually Need Help: These aren’t spa-goers. These are real people with pain and problems that you’ll be equipped to solve.
- Flexible Schedule: You're an independent contractor. Pick the hours that work for your life.
- Growth: We’re building something special, and you can grow with us.
Who Shouldn’t Apply
If you just want to zone out, rub backs, and collect a paycheck… this isn’t your spot.
But if you want to become one of the best therapeutic massage therapists in Tennessee, with support, systems, and real mentorship, welcome home.
Salary : $40 - $55
