What are the responsibilities and job description for the Occupational Medicine Coordinator/Technician position at Focus Occupational Medicine?
Coordinates and Participates in a variety of clinical activities in support of the Occupational Services and Urgent Care lines. This includes but is not limited to the following:
· Greets and welcomes all patients and visitors in a respectful and empathetic manner.
· Registers all patients accurately for any and all requested services.
o Obtains and makes copy of photo identification for every patient, confirming patient identification.
o Obtains and makes copies of insurance cards for every patient.
o Enters accurate patient demographics into EMR including patient name, date of birth, sex, social security number, address, primary care provider and pharmacy of record to ensure a clean claim is sent to the payer.
o Enters insurance / payers’ information into EMR and verifies insurance eligibility.
o Prepares patients for clinical visit by explaining the expectations for visit.
o Offers and explains any additional benefits to patients such as the patient portals and other offerings.
o Thank the patient for choosing our facilities for their medical needs.
· Billing and Financial Responsibilities
o Collects all co-pays and self-pay / high deductible deposits as required.
o Complete bank deposits daily
o Complete, print, and email daily deposit records and reports
· Medical Record Maintenance
o Prepares, assists, and accurately completes all forms.
o Scans and submits all loose papers, lab results, dictated reports and mail received into the medical record.
o Prints, Scans, Emails or Faxes Medical records to employers, third parties and primary care providers as requested by patient and or guardian.
o Prints out medical charts and supporting documents when medical documents are requested.
· Patient Communications
o Interact calmly, respectfully, and professionally at all times.
o Answer incoming calls professionally and determine how best to assist with patient questions, or when unable to assist, refer patients to proper resources such as billing support.
o Monitor and respond to emails received for all email accounts assigned including employee emails.
o Schedules patients for appointments and assists providers with scheduling appointments with specialists for a higher level of care or follow up.
· Clinical Care and Occupational Testing
o Prepare patients for examinations, tests, or treatments and explain procedures.
o Escort and/or transport patients to examinations, verifying patient identification using two patient identifiers.
o Measure and record patients’ vital signs, such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respirations.
o Observe patients, chart, and report changes in patients’ conditions, such as history of present illness, adverse reactions to medication or treatment, and communicate findings to provider or nurse.
o Performs drug (urine, hair, saliva) and alcohol (BAT) testing for both DOT and non-DOT, using the proper chain of custody; ensures preparation for specimen pick-up and shipment to appropriate laboratory.
o Draw blood and process specimens according to established policies and procedures.
o Prepare patients for and obtain electrocardiograms according to established policies.
o Perform cholesterol and glucose screening according to established policy.
o Obtain specimens/cultures including but not limited to urine, throat and wound.
o Perform vision screenings.
o Perform hearing evaluations.
o Perform pulmonary function testing / spirometry tests.
o Perform functional assessment screenings including human performance evaluations, lifting evaluations, flexibility tests, and grip strength testing.
o Perform respirator fit testing.
o Provide appropriate health training to patients and their families as directed by Physician.
o Assists provider(s) during examination.
o Perform basic patient care and treatments, such as dressing wounds and application of durable medical equipment.
· Maintain inventory of supplies for occupational testing
· Travels between all clinic facilities within assigned region
· Travel to employers’ offices to perform onsite testing
· Good attendance and being on time and ready to work your scheduled hours is an essential job requirement.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
