Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our team. In this role, you will assist optometrists in providing high-quality patient care, performing various clinical tasks, and ensuring the smooth operation of the optometry office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patient care, medical records management, and an understanding of optical equipment.
Duties
- Assist optometrists during eye examinations by preparing patients and conducting preliminary tests.
- Manage medical records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of patient information.
- Conduct visual acuity tests, measure intraocular pressure, and perform other diagnostic tests as needed.
- Provide education to patients regarding eye health, contact lens fitting, and eyewear options.
- Maintain and organize optical inventory, including frames and lenses.
- Support retail sales by assisting patients in selecting eyewear that meets their needs.
- Collaborate with ophthalmology specialists for referrals when necessary.
- Monitor vital signs and gather relevant medical history from patients.
- Ensure a clean and organized work environment in accordance with medical office standards.
Requirements
- Previous experience as an Optometric Technician or in a similar role is preferred.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology related to the eye is beneficial.
- Familiarity with optical equipment and retail sales experience is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for managing medical records.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages, including pediatrics.
- Ability to perform basic clinical tasks such as taking vital signs and conducting preliminary tests.
