What are the responsibilities and job description for the Audio AUD PRODUCTION SPECIALIST 1 position at Focus on the Family?

The Audio Production Specialist I position exists to perform highly diversified functions in Broadcast Production department including podcasts/digital and the Daily broadcast. Responsible for the entire recording process, production and editing. This position requires only occasional supervision and refers only specific, unusual problems to supervisor.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Utilizes production skills to perform rough, time, and final editing of audio content using Pro Tools Digital Audio Workstation
Mixes music and performs other techniques to improve sound quality (e.g., equalization, compression, matching new and old material)
Ensures technical quality of broadcast projects
Reviews final versions of audio prior to distribution for content, audio quality, and any copyright or legal issues
Performs pre-production functions in preparation for voice track or wraparound sessions, including analyzing the material, editing time and content, and ensuring equalization
Responds to broadcast schedule replacements as required while maintaining broadcast quality and meeting distribution deadline
Edits the content of each broadcast to ensure the highest degree of content, flow, and global cultural sensitivity and relevancy
Ensures that no content is released without confirmation of reliability and all legal issues are settled in collaboration with the Daily Producer
Serves as audio engineer for basic recording sessions in the studio, including voice tracks and some interviews
Performs recording studio set-up and microphone placement
Assists audio engineer in all other recordings
Serves as backup studio engineer for other audio recordings as needed
Delivers final versions of broadcast to Satellite on time for distribution
Engineers and edits special projects for The Office of the Chairman as needed
Other Duties/Responsibilities:
Performs other duties, including but not limited to duties as assigned, some of which may include the development and creation of a variety of copyrightable works (e.g., print, photography, film, music, visual arts, etc.) for distribution in all media and formats (such as television, radio, internet, wireless, DVD, satellite and digital) on a world-wide basis, all of which shall be for the benefit of Focus on the Family
May perform voice work in audio and audio/visual works, as needed, which may include, hosting, interviews, performing a role, etc.
Edits and produces other audio projects as needed
Engineers KYDS Radio recording sessions as needed
Performs other duties as assigned

Working Environment/Physical Requirements:
Occasional to frequent exposure to noise, dust, fumes, etc.
Well developed sense of hearing for entire audio spectrum frequency

Personal Characteristics:
Knowledge/Experience:
Associate's Degree in Broadcasting, Communications, or equivalent broadcast trade school certification or equivalent experience
2-4 years experience in a combination of sound engineering, audio editing, and broadcast programming
In-depth knowledge of FOF mission, philosophy, values, and objectives
Skills, Abilities, and Special Talents/Gifts:
Ability to operate sophisticated production equipment, including reel-to-reel tape decks, mixing consoles/amplifier, digital audio tape player, equalizer, digital reverberator, limiter/compressor, Pro Tools Digital Audio Workstation, microphones, and cables
Technical knowledge of audio frequency characteristics
Good organizational skills
Attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to organize work effectively to meet demanding time constraints
Ability to use judgment to solve moderately complex problems within the limits of standard policy and practice
Proficient in use of computer hardware and software
Ability to work independently
Pay Range: $22.00 to $25.25/hr
