Position Summary
Focus Points Family Resource Center is seeking a full-time Grant Manager to join our team and work in our Denver office. This position will work in collaboration with the Director of Development and Communications to ensure that the organization achieves its annual fundraising goals through grant writing and donor data management. The Grant Manager will be responsible for executing many aspects of institutional donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship, and ensuring that donor data is maintained in Focus Points’ Raisers’ Edge database. Some support with fundraising and community engagement events is also required.
Responsibilities & Activities
Proposal Writing (50%)
- Write and submit 2-3 grant proposals each week for new and renewal funding. This includes proposals for government, foundation and corporate funding.
- Ensure proposals reflect updated information about community and program content, needs, objectives and outcomes, in part by doing independent research and by meeting with program and other development staff as needed.
- Maintain an updated proposal attachments folder.
- Attend meetings with donors as requested by the Director.
- Support maintenance of the annual grants calendar, including proposal and reporting deadlines.
- Identify new opportunities for proposal submission and review requirements to assess fit for Focus Points’ funding needs.
Report Writing (25%)

Required Competencies
Written Communication – excellent written communication in the English language, including proven expertise and usage of correct English grammar, appropriate tone and program terminology for effective communication to institutional donors.
Grantwriting Experience : At least 2 years of experience writing funding proposals
Time Management – ability to allocate time and other resources to accomplish tasks and meet deadlines by prioritizing responsibilities while working across multiple systems with staff from multiple departments.
Attention to Detail – Meticulous notation and fulfillment of deadlines, proposal and report requirements, proposal and report content and presentation, and donor information.
Information Gathering – ability to research, compile analyze information for effective communication with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
Technology and Database Proficiency – the ability to successfully manage database functions and an understanding of how to effectively utilize database features to collect and manage relevant information. Must be willing to learn and regularly use Raisers’ Edge donor management software.
Preferred Competencies
Nonprofit Knowledge – Previous experience working in a nonprofit environment in order to write effectively describe community needs and program content, and effectively navigate the multi-step collaborative process of grantwriting.
Experience with a donor management system such as Raisers’ Edge. While this is not a required competency, the position requires regular use of this system, and a successful candidate will be interested and willing to master it within the first three months of employment.
Bilingual Communication – Read, write, and speak Spanish at a basic level, or be willing to learn, so that staff member can be involved in organizational prioritization of linguistic justice and understand the unique qualities and needs of our community.
