Role Overview
The System Administrator / Field Technician at Focus Solutions plays a critical role in managing and maintaining the IT infrastructure that supports our healthcare clients. This hybrid remote position requires an experienced professional with deep expertise in Azure cloud environments, Windows server administration, and IT security.
As a System Administrator / Field Technician, you will ensure system integrity, availability, and scalability while serving as a trusted advisor to clients. You'll oversee the administration of devices, servers, and networks, respond to technical issues, and provide end-user support as needed. This role emphasizes security, compliance, and operational efficiency, particularly in healthcare IT systems. This combines remote (work from home) and onsite at client locations in the Kansas City area.

Responsibilities
- Build, and maintain IT infrastructure in Azure environments, including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS solutions.
- Configure and support Direct VPNs, virtual networking, VM automation, and container orchestration.
- Manage server, PC, and device administration tasks such as system configuration, patch, and device management.
- Monitor and escalate system and security alerts; review logs to ensure system integrity, availability, and security.
- Support managed network devices and coordinate with ISPs to resolve data circuit interruptions.
- Document processes and maintain documentation in a centralized repository.
- Engage directly with clients, handling support escalations and acting as a trusted advisor.
- Provide technical support for various operating systems, applications, and devices used in healthcare settings.
- Respond to user inquiries and escalations as needed via phone, email, or remote tools in a timely and professional manner.
- Install, configure, and update software applications, patches, and operating systems.
- Collaborate with clients onsite to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues that cannot be addressed remotely.
Qualifications
- 5 years in a Systems Administrator or similar role, preferably in a cloud-computing environment.
- 5 years of experience as a PC/Help Desk Technician or in a similar technical support role.
- Advanced expertise in Azure and Windows server administration. MSP experience is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Windows and Mac operating systems.
- Hands-on experience with identity management (Entra ID, OAuth, multifactor authentication) and federated identity solutions.
- Proficiency in managing security certificates, virtualized environments, and cloud resource governance using RBAC.
- Skilled in automation and scripting with PowerShell.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts like VPNs, NAT, IP routing, ACLs, and Load Balancers.
- Proficient in MDM administration via MS Intune and implementing scalable solutions for high user volumes.
- A valid driver's license and willingness to travel to client locations in the Kansas City area when required.
Soft Skills:

Preferred Skills:

- Healthcare IT experience, including EHR systems and compliance with HIPAA and HITRUST.
- Relevant Microsoft certifications (strongly preferred):
- Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)
- Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305)
- Azure Virtual Desktop Specialty (AZ-140)
- Azure Network Engineer Associate (AZ-700)

Work Environment and Physical Demands
This job operates in a professional office environment and is a work-from-home position. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, copiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday. The daily schedule may vary from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Hours may vary or exceed 40 in any given week depending on the needs of the business. On-call hours will apply, and the candidate may be required to come into the office or be available on short notice as needs arise.
Location / Travel
Focus Solutions is a Wisconsin-based company with a 100% remote workforce. You will primarily work from home but will be expected to go onsite to client locations in the Kansas City area. There will be occasional travel outside the region for client site visits and for annual team meetings.
