What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Nursing Assistant - Full-Time position at Focus Treatment Center?
Shifts available: 3pm-11pm and 11pm - 7am
Position is considered light CNA duties
Alternating weekly hours: 40/week, 32/week
POSITION SUMMARY
Personnel in this position function under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing. He or she assists the clinical and nursing teams in patient care, helps patients by supporting daily living needs, and provides comfort, transportation, and vital sign monitoring.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma preferred.
- Good understanding of addictive process and recovery skills
- Minimum of one-year experience in the addiction field preferred.
- Individuals in recovery from substance abuse must have a minimum of two years of continuous chemical abstinence and must be active in support groups.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
- Perform admissions and orientation of the patient to the unit. Assists with patient discharges.
- Takes patient vital signs and documents according to facility policy.
- Observes patient behaviors and documents in accordance with facility policy.
- Conduct patient check of belongings upon admission.
- Supervise urine collection of patients.
- Conduct crisis intervention with the supervision of Director of Nursing/ADON or Charge Nurse.
- Escort patients to appointments as indicated by supervisor. Accompanies patients on outings and to nightly meetings and may require driving facility vehicles.
- Documents in chart any contact with patients in accordance with department and facility procedure.
- Serves as a liaison between clinical staff and patients, keeping staff informed of high-risk issues or potential patient problems.
- Regularly communicates with other team members and interface in a positive constructive and helpful manner to promote cohesiveness, reduce conflict and provide for resolution.
- Monitors and identifies potential problems and discusses them in the daily multidisciplinary treatment meeting.
- Participates in meetings and treatment teams as required.
- Assists with Crisis Intervention as directed by Director of Nursing or Charge Nurse. Able to understand and react effectively to the unique needs of the patients.
- Monitors meal times and bathroom breaks (ED Unit only)
- Follow through with special assignments and responsibilities as requested by the Director of Nursing.
- Provides support for activities of daily living by assisting patients with activities they are unable to perform themselves.
- Maintains patient stability by checking vital signs and weight, testing urine, and recording intake and output information.
- Provides patient comfort by utilizing facility resources, transporting patients, answering patient questions and requests, and reporting observations of the patient to the nursing supervisor.
- Documents actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
- Maintains work operations by following current policies and procedures.
- Protects patient privacy and organization’s value by keeping patient information confidential.
- Adheres to professional standards, facility policies and procedures, federal/state/local requirements, and Joint Commission standards.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in education opportunities, reading professional publications, participating in professional organizations, and maintaining certification and licensure.
- Other duties as assigned.
