ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Health and Safety Manager
The Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Manager works proactively to minimize and eliminate workplace health and
safety risks and hazards, ensuring a safe environment where employees work safely and are provided adequate training
to perform their job duties. Additionally, the HSE Manager makes recommendations to management regarding program
implementation and improvements and works with the Operations management team to ensure safety and
environmental goals are met. This critical role has a deep understanding of the interworking relationship between safety
and productivity, profits, Associate engagement, and retention.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (to include but not limited to) :
- Oversees development of policies and programs meant to mitigate organizational impact on the environment or protect
employees from health and safety risks found in the organization.
Champion initiatives that identify facility risk, prioritize risk reduction measures, and drive closure of recommendationsto reduce the identified risks.
Provide active and positive leadership to develop a safety-minded culture across the facility and drive continuous EHSimprovement.
Responsible for all OSHA regulatory and compliance requirements of the company.Audits facilities or processes to identify weaknesses or risks and proactively develops and implements correctiveactions; ensures appropriate investigation of and response to accidents or injuries.
Always ensure consistent and professional communication with the customer.Lead projects and provide guidance when needed.Develop EHS training requirements and ensure completion for both technical / management and operator level.Manages the daily / weekly / monthly Safety and Environmental metrics and reporting.Drive improvement in behavior-based observation systems and culture.Develop, implement, and maintain an emergency response plan that meets or exceeds industry standards.Organize and lead teams / committees to identify and implement safety improvements, waste reductions and resourceconservation.
Act as a role model for all associates and adhere to the company core values.Exercise supervisory authority over employees in the EHS group.Establishes guidelines governing the collection and maintenance of employee training records, health / safety manuals orhandbooks, incident / accident reports, or other documentation.
Design, recommend and administer safety incentive programs to drive.REQUIREMENTS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS) :
10 years of progressive EHS work experience.Minimum of 5 years of experience in a warehouse management environmentComprehensive EHS knowledge in regulatory requirements and EHS technical aspects (safety, industrial hygiene,environmental regulatory management, risk management, behavior-based safety, training, regulatory agency
enforcement).
Proficient in the use of computers and several Windows based applicationsExperience in safety incident classification, investigation procedures, root cause analyses and corrective actions.Must have experience with implementation / certification ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001Must be detail oriented and consistently meets commitments. Possesses good organizational and planning skills, canmulti-task and prioritize effectively. Able to document and execute against short- and long-term plans to achieve
objectives.
High level of comfort developing and delivering training and motivational presentations to all levels of associates.Familiar with warehousing processes to drive safety within those environments.Must be flexible to work different hours as needed by the department / business.
