Position Overview: The HR Specialist will aid in the administration and support of HR processes, procedures, systems, and our great team members.
Essential Job Functions
- Perform data entry into HRIS for all new hires, changes, LOA's and terminations.
- Maintain HRIS accuracy for all employee records.
- Review timecards, ensure accurate timekeeping prior to payroll being processed.
- Answer payroll and benefit related questions.
- Assist with E-Verify and I-9's.
- Assist with background check and drug screen process.
- Assist all union and non-union employees with annual open enrollment for benefits.
- Assist in handling leave management for the site (FMLA, STD, ADA, W/C).
- Facilitate new hire orientations and assist with onboarding process.
- Recruit for hourly employees, work with temporary agencies, manage agency relationships.
- Facilitate the internal job promotion and interview process.
- Complete all monthly and quarterly union reports.
- With assistance from Corporate HR team, help with leaves of absences and site injury reporting.
- Track plant employees' attendance, vacation, and time off requests.
- Maintain plant access control system including employee picture badges.
- Assist HR team with projects.
- Serve as first point of contact for employees with HR needs.
- Coordinate and facilitate a variety of employee meetings and engagement events.
- Proper record keeping and employee file maintenance.
- Update and maintain current job descriptions.
- Track, monitor and coach employees and supervisors on weekly attendance.
- Assist EHS Coordinator to ensure compliance with annual Safety and Health compliance training.
- Responsible for assisting with employee relations issues including but not limited to counseling, coaching, and corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with Chicago ordinances and state and federal regulations as well as annual trainings.
- Other duties as assigned.
