Our direct client has an opening for a UI / UX Designer (Job ID : 3162). This position is up to 12 months with the option of extension. The client is located in Wilmington, DE 19801.
Remote with occasional in-person team meetings (4-6 times a year) :
- The Government Information Center (GIC) is seeking a UI / UX Designer who will work on innovative projects promoting state and local government programs, services, initiatives, and information.
- The successful candidate will play a critical role in developing, maintaining, and enhancing our new design system, ensuring consistency and a high standard of user experience across all state government digital platforms.
- This role requires a blend of creativity, strategic thinking, and strong technical skills to deliver user-centered designs that place accessibility standards, best practices, and user research at the forefront.
- The UI / UX designer will work within the Creative Team and will have strong collaboration with the Web Team. This position reports to the GIC Creative Director.

Key Responsibilities :
Collaborate with a project lead for the creation, implementation, and ongoing management of a comprehensive design system that includes reusable components, patterns, and guidelines.
Design high-fidelity UI components and UI patterns that are visually appealing, accessible, and user-friendly.
Work closely with the Design Lead, UX researchers, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with project goals and user needs.
Ensure all designs comply with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG 2.1 AA and higher) and promote inclusivity.
Collaborate with developers to ensure accurate implementation of designs.
Qualifications :
2 to 5 years of experience in UX / UI Design is desired, with a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in design systems and accessibility.
Proficiency in design tools (such as Figma or Adobe Creative Suite), accessibility tools (WAVE, ANDI).
Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies.
