What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Accountant position at FOCUSED MANAGEMENT EXPERTS, INC?
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Staff Accountant to manage the financial transactions of a multi-franchise restaurant operator. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, reconciling accounts, filing sales tax reports, and ensuring compliance with tax regulations. They will interact directly with Payroll, HR, and franchise owners. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in accounting software.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manages Accounts Payable to include daily entry of invoices, processing of payments, and recording the payment details in Restaurant365.
- Issues invoices to clients, monitoring for timely payment and referring late payment instances to management for further action.
- Assist in preparing tax filings and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations as well as commercial activity tax, sales/use tax, and BWC true-up.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records and documentation.
- Identify discrepancies and resolve financial record issues.
- Maintains a current schedule of the company’s fixed assets including buildings, equipment, and vehicle loans.
- Monitors bank balances and updates management on potential concerns.
- Performs month end closing duties, including journal entries, bank account reconciliations, intercompany transactions, etc.
- Generates and distributes month end financial statements to management for review.
- Correctly allocates company expense reports to the appropriate general ledger accounts.
- Consults with the company’s external accounting and tax advisors to assist with their preparation of income tax returns and other local, state of federal government financial filings.
- Performs all duties with a level of proficiency and professional skill that ensures the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial data and compliance with external regulations.
- Other clerical or administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred)
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
- Minimum of 1 year restaurant experience – management or above
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks online and/or Restaurant365) and Microsoft Office.
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite – Word, Excel, and Outlook.
