Position : Assistant Principal
Rate : $60 to $65 per hour
Focused Staffing Group seeks an experienced Assistant Principal to join our partner school in Philadelphia, PA.
Position Summary :
The Assistant Principal will assist the school principal in the provision of direction, leadership, and day-to-day management of educational activities. The AP plays an integral role in the establishment and maintenance of a school climate and culture that is conducive to learning; including overseeing the enforcement of school rules, regulations, and policies, and implementation of disciplinary measures.
The AP will work collaboratively with the Administrative Council to model professional leadership and guidance for the entire school, to direct and maintain the unique culture and vision of the organization, to nurture key community relationships, and to provide objective, data-driven, and mission-centered departmental perspective to executive-level decision-making.
Responsibilities :
Essential Functions :
- Serves as part of the school’s administrative council; supports the principal in overseeing the administration of the school programs and the implementation of policies; assists in planning, organizing, and evaluating services for instructional staff, such as staff development activities, instructional coaching, resource management, and instructional program development.
- Interacts with teachers and other staff in the development of materials and methodologies for instruction.
- Tours the school building and its external perimeters to monitor safety and security; directs and coordinates staff supervision of areas such as hallways and cafeterias; ensures that school rules and expectations are enforced.
- Handles disciplinary matters by following the school policy.
- Conducts classroom observations on instructional staff and provides input to the principal during the teacher evaluation process.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with community-based groups, parents, and student organizations, and develops resources within the community.
- May coordinate extracurricular activities and engage in before-school, after-school, and evening activities as required.
- Support in creating and monitoring instructional systems.
- Supports the high school transition team in the enrollment process for 8th graders.
- Supports the new student and family orientation.
