Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Health and Physical Education Teacher .
In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive curriculum that aligns with state standards and prepares students for success both in and out of the classroom. Your focus will be on promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and healthy lifestyle choices among students. By fostering a positive and engaging learning environment, you will inspire students to take ownership of their health and well-being.
Major Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum tailored to the needs of students.
- Plan and lead engaging lessons centered on physical fitness, rhythm, dance, and both individual and team sports.
- Instill values such as cooperation, teamwork, and sportsmanship within the gym setting.
- Maintain strong classroom management practices that emphasize student ownership, teamwork, and a positive atmosphere.
- Monitor student growth and progress in alignment with state standards.
- Provide ample opportunities for regular physical activity to encourage movement and fitness.
- Promote a physically active lifestyle among students.
- Strong customer service orientation and personal service skills.
- Background in education and training methodologies.
- Proficiency with computers and electronic devices.
- Ability to instruct effectively while understanding psychological principles related to learning.
- Knowledge of public safety protocols, sociology, anthropology, and social perceptiveness.
- Strong monitoring skills coupled with complex problem-solving abilities.
- Good judgment and decision-making capabilities, along with systems analysis skills.
- Proficient in Google Suite for Education.
- Familiarity with Student Information Systems (SIS) and student intervention programs.
- Experience using document cameras, projectors, laptops, and copiers.
- Bachelor’s Degree is required.
- Valid Pennsylvania Teaching Certification is required.
- Ability to sit, walk, stand, talk, push, drive, lift 20-25 lbs., move from a seated position, restrain students (training required), and walk up and down stairs, among other physical tasks.
