Position: Middle School ELA Teacher
Compensation: Up to $50 per hour

- Support students in achieving the essential skills outlined in the Michigan Common Core standards.
- Encourage students to establish and uphold high standards of responsibility for their learning and behavior.
- Understand and implement the school’s and state’s requirements for teaching middle and/or high school students, creating appropriate curricula.
- Engage in continuous professional development to stay informed about curriculum changes and educational trends.
- Utilize a variety of research-based instructional strategies and media tailored to the diverse needs of students.
- Regularly evaluate student progress and refer those needing additional assistance when necessary.
- Teach rules of conduct and maintain discipline within the classroom and throughout the campus.
- Strive to embody the academy’s philosophy, instructional goals, and educational objectives through both teaching methods and actions.
- Participate actively in weekly staff meetings, ongoing professional development sessions, and grade-level/content area meetings.
- Maintain accurate administrative records in accordance with district policies.
- Consistently support school policies and procedures while collaborating with school leadership.
- Model self-discipline and ethical behavior, presenting yourself professionally through appropriate attire, communication, and demeanor.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues both orally and in writing.
- Ensure appropriate supervision of students to create a safe and orderly learning environment.
- Collaborate effectively with peers, administrators, and other staff members.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal or designated representative.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field.
- Compliance with State of Michigan requirements for teacher certification in the relevant subject area(s) and grade level(s).
- Candidates must demonstrate:
- Strong skills in planning, delivering, and assessing student learning.
- In-depth knowledge of research-based instructional strategies with the ability to implement them effectively.
- Proficiency in using technology to enhance instruction.
