About the Role:
Are you passionate about helping students succeed? We are seeking a Learning Support Paraprofessional to assist students with learning disabilities or academic challenges in both general and special education settings. You will work closely with teachers to implement accommodations, support classroom instruction, and promote student independence.
Key Responsibilities:
✅ Instructional Support:
- Provide one-on-one or small group academic support in reading, writing, and math.
- Assist students with assignments, comprehension, and study skills.
- Adapt materials to ensure accessibility for diverse learners.
- Utilize assistive technology and visual aids to enhance learning.
✅ Behavioral & Social Support:
- Implement positive behavior strategies in alignment with student IEPs or Behavior Plans.
- Support students with organization, self-regulation, and social skills.
- Encourage positive peer interactions and engagement in learning.
✅ Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff.
- Communicate student progress and challenges to the special education team.
- Ensure accommodations and modifications are effectively implemented.
✅ Student Supervision & Documentation:
- Monitor students in classrooms, hallways, and transitions.
- Provide test-taking accommodations as needed.
- Track progress and document student participation and interventions.
Qualifications:
✔ Education: High school diploma or equivalent (required).
✔ Experience: Prior experience working with students in a school setting (preferred).
✔ Skills:
- Strong communication, patience, and adaptability.
- Understanding of special education principles and instructional strategies.
- Ability to follow teacher instructions and implement student accommodations.
