Position: 7th and 8th Grade SPED Teacher
Rate: Up to $60 per hour
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher .
In this role, you will be responsible for developing and delivering specialized instruction tailored to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities. You will monitor and assess student progress against individualized goals while also serving as the IEP Case Manager for assigned students. Collaboration with general education teachers through co-teaching is essential to ensure an inclusive learning environment.
Major Responsibilities:
- Deliver scientifically-based instruction to students with special needs in small group settings, utilizing data-driven methods.
- Provide specialized support within the general education classroom by co-teaching alongside the general education teacher.
- Monitor student progress and assess achievement against instructional objectives and individual goals.
- Manage IEP processes for assigned students, ensuring compliance with state-mandated procedures, including organizing annual IEP meetings and producing necessary documentation.
- Maintain regular communication with parents and the IEP team, providing updates on student progress through reports and meetings.
- Document all communications with families in the Student Information System (SIS).
- Attend professional development sessions relevant to your grade level and content area.
- Foster positive relationships with students and their families.
- Actively participate in the Caring School Community (CSC) and other school-wide initiatives.
- Adhere to compliance deadlines and fulfill individual or departmental assignments.

Technology Skills:
- Familiarity with SIS and special education data management systems.
- Proficient in Google Suite and Microsoft Office applications.
- Competent in using basic office equipment and video conferencing tools.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree is required.
- Valid Pennsylvania Teaching Certification is required.
- Special Education Certification is required.
- Minimum of 3 years in special education is required.
- Must be able to commute to Philadelphia, PA 19124.
- Amenable to onsite work
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, walk, stand, talk, push, drive, lift 20-25 lbs., move from a seated position, restrain students (training required), and walk up and down stairs, among other physical tasks.
Expected Hours: 37.5 per week
Schedule: Day shift, Monday to Friday
