Position: School Psychologist
Commitment: Full-time, 11 months
Rate: Up to $80 per hour
Reports to: Director of Exceptional Learners
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced School Psychologist to join our partner school in Lynchburg, VA . The School Psychologist will provide psychological services within the school division in accordance with the policies of the school board.
Essential Functions:
- Consult with central office staff, school-based staff, parents, and other appropriate persons to agencies to increase their understanding of referred students and to assist in making recommendations for their optimal growth
- Conducts in-services, workshops, or consultative conferences for central office and/or school-based personnel, and as appropriate for parents and public or private agencies, in areas of mutual concern
- Assists in providing liaison services between the school division and the mental health clinic, social services, family court, and other community agencies that provide special services for children and their families
- Research to acquire information that will assist in enhancing psychological services and the educational process
- Participates in legal appeals and hearings regarding students who have been evaluated psychologically or are in special education programs
- Administrators and interpret individual psychological and psycho-educational testing to referred students for the assessment of intelligence, personality, aptitude, achievement, and perception as appropriate
- Provides crisis and non-crisis interventions including consultation, individual and group counseling, and assistance in developing behavioral programs
- Participates in school-based or division-wide committees or meetings for the exchange of information which would contribute to the enhancement of the education process or the awareness of the needs of specific children and their educational growth
- Participates in school-based School Consultation Team meetings upon request from the building administrator
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education
Education and Experience:
Must possess or be eligible for a Virginia Health Board License as a School Psychologist
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Interprets and communicates the results of individual assessments and the recommendations developed from them through written reports to central office staff, principals, teachers, parents, and other public and/or private agencies as required by policy and/or by law
Supervisory Responsibility:
