Position: Middle School Social Studies Teacher
Compensation: Pays up to $50 per hour

- Understand the requirements for teaching middle and/or high school students and develop a corresponding curriculum.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with educational trends and curriculum developments.
- Utilize a range of research-based instructional strategies and media tailored to the diverse needs of students.
- Regularly assess student progress and refer those needing additional assistance when necessary.
- Teach rules of conduct and maintain discipline within the classroom and on campus.
- Actively promote the academy’s philosophy, instructional goals, and educational objectives through both teaching methods and actions.
- Participate in weekly staff meetings, professional development sessions, and grade-level/content area meetings.
- Maintain accurate administrative records as per district policies.
- Uphold school policies and procedures consistently while supporting school leadership.
- Model self-discipline and ethical behavior, presenting oneself professionally through appropriate attire, communication, and demeanor.
- Communicate effectively in both oral and written forms with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Ensure appropriate supervision of students to create a safe and orderly learning environment.
- Collaborate effectively with peers, administrators, and other staff members.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal or designated representative.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field.
- Compliance with Michigan state requirements for teacher certification in the relevant subject area(s) and grade level(s).
- Demonstrated competency in each core academic subject taught, as defined by state standards.
- Strong skills in planning, delivering, and assessing student learning.
- In-depth knowledge of research-based instructional strategies and the ability to implement them effectively.
- Proficiency in using technology to support instruction.
- A belief that all children can succeed, along with a commitment to making this belief a reality.
