What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Teacher position at Focused Staffing?
Grade Levels: 6-12
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team! This role involves providing individualized instruction and support to students with special needs, ensuring they receive a high-quality education tailored to their learning abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and effective instruction to students with special needs, following individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring to reinforce language, reading, and academic concepts.
- Administer and evaluate individual and group assessments.
- Schedule and lead IEP meetings, coordinating with parents, general education teachers, administrators, and special education staff.
- Collaborate with speech therapists, counselors, and other service providers for student evaluations and support.
- Maintain clear communication with parents regarding student progress and behavior.
- Track and document progress toward IEP goals and ensure compliance with program requirements.
- Support other academic programs within the independent study framework.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Valid Arizona Special Education Teaching Credential (Required).
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field.
- Experience teaching students in grades 6-12 preferred.
- Strong ability to adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to effectively organize, plan, and implement individualized instruction.
- Proficiency in using technology for instruction and record-keeping (PC, word processing software, copier, fax, etc.).
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a dynamic educational setting.
