Job Summary
This is a teaching position in which the successful candidate will be responsible for instructing students in citizenship and basic subject matter, developing lesson plans, and providing individualized instruction to adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of each student.
Key Responsibilities
- Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations.
- Develops lesson plans and instructional aids, including laboratory learning methods where appropriate.
- Provides opportunities for individualized and small group instruction.
- Designs learning activities relevant to real-world scenarios.
- Maintains a productive classroom environment by establishing and enforcing standards of student behavior.
- Evaluates student progress according to District policies and guidelines.
- Communicates with parents or guardians regarding student progress.
- Identifies student needs and collaborates with colleagues to assess and help students address health, attitude, and learning problems.
- Participates in curriculum development and other educational programs.
- Maintains professional competence through ongoing education and training.
- Supervises students during out-of-classroom activities.
- Pursues additional responsibilities as assigned by the building administrator, including supervising Instructional Assistants and managing Special Education paperwork.
Requirements
- A valid Arizona Special Education Teaching Certificate.
- An "Appropriately Certified" status.
- A valid fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
