Position : Speech Language Pathologist
Location : Reading, MA 01867
Rate : Up to $70 per hour
Reports to : Director of Pupil Services
Summary :
The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) is responsible for identifying students with communication disabilities, planning and implementing appropriate treatment to minimize adverse impacts on student success, recommending treatment plans, and facilitating students' communication competence. The SLP will work collaboratively with educators, parents, and other professionals to support the communication needs of students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Assessment : Conduct comprehensive evaluations of students' communication skills (articulation, fluency, voice, expressive and receptive language) to identify communication disorders and determine program eligibility.
- Collaboration : Work with parents, teachers, physicians, and other professionals to communicate information, resolve issues, and provide services in accordance with established guidelines.
- Treatment Planning : Develop individualized treatment plans and interventions that minimize the impact of communication disorders.
- Instruction : Provide therapy to students using appropriate communication technologies (e.g., hearing aids, augmentative devices) and instruct support staff on communicative disorders and prescribed treatment plans.
- Documentation : Maintain accurate records of evaluations, progress reports, treatment plans, and other required documentation to ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards.
- Meeting Coordination : Coordinate meetings for eligible students (e.g., IEPs, parent conferences) to present evaluation results and develop treatment plans.
- Research : Stay informed about best practices in speech-language pathology by researching intervention techniques and assessment tools.
- Professional Development : Participate in trainings and seminars to enhance professional skills and knowledge.
