Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Pharmacy Packaging Technician to join our Long-Term Care (LTC) Pharmacy team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately packaging medications for residents in long-term care facilities using specialized packaging systems, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and maintaining the highest standards of accuracy, safety, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately fill, seal, and label blister cards, strip packaging, and other medication delivery systems per prescription orders.
- Operate and maintain automated packaging equipment (e.g., strip packagers, blister pack machines).
- Perform quality checks to ensure medication accuracy and integrity in all packaging processes.
- Assist with inventory control including restocking shelves, rotating stock, and checking expiration dates.
- Prepare medications for delivery, ensuring proper labeling and documentation.
- Follow all HIPAA and company policies to ensure patient confidentiality.
- Collaborate with pharmacists, technicians, and delivery drivers to ensure timely fulfillment and shipment of medications.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with company policies and regulatory standards.
- Participate in training and continuous education as required.
- Other duties as assigned by pharmacy leadership.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Pharmacy Technician license/certification as required by state regulations.
- Prior experience in a long-term care, retail, or hospital pharmacy setting preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Familiarity with pharmacy software systems and automated packaging equipment is a plus.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Frequent standing, walking, reaching, and manual dexterity to operate machines and handle medications.
