Job Summary:
The Hotel Kitchen Line Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and plating food items according to hotel and restaurant standards. This role requires maintaining high food quality, ensuring kitchen cleanliness, and following all food safety regulations. The line cook works as part of a team to deliver a seamless dining experience for guests while upholding the hotel's culinary standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook food items promptly and professionally according to standardized recipes, portion controls, and presentation guidelines.
Set up, stock, and maintain workstation with necessary ingredients, utensils, and equipment.
Maintain knowledge of menu items, recipes, and dietary restrictions.
Ensure proper cooking techniques, temperatures, and presentation for all dishes.
Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines, maintaining a clean and organized work area.
Assist with inventory management, including receiving, storing, and rotating food supplies.
Work closely with other kitchen staff to coordinate and execute meal service efficiently.
Monitor food quality and notify the chef or supervisor of any issues.
Assist in prepping ingredients, sauces, and garnishes.
Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any malfunctions.
Work collaboratively with kitchen, restaurant and banquet event staff to ensure seamless delivery of food items.
Follow all hotel and kitchen policies, procedures, and safety and sanitation regulations.
Comply with all company policies, including time & attendance, meal & rest breaks, uniform standards, and code of conduct.
Be punctual and professional, provide excellent food for our guests.
Perform pre- and post-shift tasks and other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications & Skills:
Culinary school training or equivalent work experience is a plus.
Minimum 1-2 years of experience as a line cook, prep cook, or similar role in a professional kitchen.
Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, food preparation, and kitchen operations.
Ability to multi-task and work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Attention to detail and commitment to consistency.
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations and best practices.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform repetitive tasks and physically demanding activities, such as stand, bend, lift, push, pull and move for extended periods.
Perform manual and repetitive motions.
Comfortable working in hot, humid, and fast-paced kitchen environments.
Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, weekdays, and holidays.
Shifts may vary depending on hotel occupancy and event schedules.
Be able to complete the Food handler’s certification upon hire.
