Purpose of this position : Support the development of a creative team of Designers who provide FPC centered solutions for a variety of projects. Lead behavioral changes within the Estimating Team to improve customer experience through improvements in efficiency, delivering competitive and creative solutions while developing consistency and continuity across the footprint.
Key Accountabilities : (categories or ‘buckets' of responsibilities)
- Focus on both strategic and tactical aspects of projects, coordinating the day-to-day delivery while keeping sight of the overall project objectives.
- Leveraging Team resources to support organizational needs through strategic daily distribution of project Assignments while managing expected project deliverable lead times. Operates independently with project direction from supervisor as needed.
- Identify opportunities and organize to facilitate training events with the intent to relay information, including but not limited to best practices, process adjustments and improving proficiency of team members (internal and external) and hence memorializing into SOP.
- Collaborate with management to Identify process improvements to improve the agility of the department / organization and give way to competitive advantage.
- Subject matter expert of company products and practices in various markets. Collaborate with internal stakeholders as the primary point of contact to assist and facilitate resolutions on a daily basics.
- Objectively Evaluating the effectiveness of designs which meet specifications and are feasible for manufacturing without compromising constructability.
- Provides orientation and thorough initial onsite training for all new-hire Estimators, communicating role and responsibilities, presenting roadmap for continuous training to ensure that expectations and progress benchmarks are met. Operates independently with project direction from supervisor as needed.
- Responsible for identifying areas in which further development and training is required to educate estimators about concepts and best practices. Create and lead training classes, draft and distribute SOP's and reference literature.
- Identifies potential projects / products that may benefit from additional investigation in which they may leverage their experience and expertise regarding cost models, pricing strategies, keeping in mind design, and manufacturing capabilities while meeting all project requirements. Present the most competitive solution(s) to Estimators, Sales Representatives and Managers while developing Estimator's ability to offer future creative solutions.
- Continuously improving processes within the Estimating Department through collaboration with Sales, Design, Project Management, Production and Scheduling Departments.
