Position Summary:
The Outside Sales Representative shall sell Foley Products Company’s (FPC) complete line of precast concrete products and act as an FPC business representative in the marketplace. Candidate shall have a thorough working knowledge of precast products and related resale items typically sold with our portfolio of products.
Essential Job Functions/Duties:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with external and internal customers
- Gain access and develop relationships with your customers, from Executives to Site Foremen - know every decision maker
- Develop sales that meet the product mix and market share targets set by FPC
- Compile market information to validate market share and market segmentation target
- Plan and negotiate agreements with customers to attain the highest possible unit selling prices and profits
- Manage customer expectations of the product ordering and delivery/pickup processes, to include quotations, design, submittal, manufacturing lead times, delivery, and payment terms among others
- Update monthly sales forecasts for new order bookings and revenue
- Monitor our competition’s product offering, market pricing, relative lead times and production abilities/struggles
- Gather pertinent project details including plans, specifications, schedules, etc. necessary for FPC to develop quotations
- Perform material take-offs and prepare thorough and accurate quotations as directed
- Participate in demand forecasting, market analysis and continuous improvement efforts
- Capitalize on every quoting / bidding opportunity by diligently following up, adjusting as necessary, and reporting the final outcome of all opportunities. Win or learn from every quote authored
- Work in concert with FPC’s Estimating, Project Management, Quality Control, Production, Dispatch and Accounting teams to ensure every client receives the highest level of customer service
- Identify projects that present themselves as "premium" opportunities well suited to leverage FPC’s capacity and capabilities
- Understand the importance of collections (accounts receivable) and utilize customer relationships to improve collections
- Respond to customer questions regarding product applications, specifications, pricing, availability, and installation
- Participate in and embrace FPC safety program
- A willingness to learn a selling system and put it into practice
Required Qualifications:
- Background in Technical Sales, Engineering, or Construction required
- 5 years of sales experience
- 2 to 5 years of experience preferred in site civil projects or experience in construction or construction industry sales
- Ability to prepare and review standard engineering documentation
- Experience with a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Valid driver’s license with safety-conscious driving record
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Be a pro-active, self-motivated, self-starter with the discipline to work independently to accomplish goals
- Ability to read and interpret civil engineering drawings and production drawings
- Proficient with all Microsoft Office Suite tools including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, engineering, construction management or a related field preferred
- Experience in construction material sales, estimating, or project management a plus
- Experience with a formalized selling system and/or CRM software
- Past sales system training
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
- Some periods of standing and/or walking are required
- Some exposure to dust, noise, and extreme temperatures
