Responsibilities
- In accordance with MSHA and Company standards, take a proactive role in prioritizing safety on the job for yourself and others.
- Safely operate excavator and other off road construction heavy equipment as needed, safely and efficiently, including excavators, dozers, haul trucks, etc.
- Conduct pre and post-operation inspections of equipment and perform routine maintenance and minor repairs as needed to ensure equipment is in good working condition. Complete reports/documentation as required.
- Monitor the plant and operations and report any unsafe behaviors, unsafe conditions, necessary maintenance, etc.
- Coordinate with other team members to ensure smooth operations and project timelines
- Other duties as assigned

Required Experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience operating heavy construction/mining equipment - 1-2 years
- Experience operating an excavator is required - 1 - 2 years
- Strong understanding of excavation practices, including safety procedures and proper handling of machinery
- Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on production need.
- Ability to troubleshoot and perform basic mechanical maintenance on excavator, other heavy equipment
- Strong attention to detail and safety protocols
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with other team members.
- Ability to work in physically demanding environments and in various weather conditions.
- Work up to 12 hour shift
- Will climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, equipment, stairs, ladders, etc.
- Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis
- Must be able to comply will all safety standards and procedures
- May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis
- May stoop, kneel, or bend on an occasional basis
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) (including but not limited to hard hat, steel toed boots, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.)
- Move in and around confined, cluttered and uneven areas
