Essential Job Responsibilities
At Mike Johns Imports (MJI), Service Advisors embody professionalism, acting as the first point of contact for our clients and delivering an exceptional service experience. Responsibilities include warmly greeting clients, identifying their vehicle maintenance and repair needs, recommending additional services when appropriate, and ensuring every interaction reflects our commitment to excellence. Service Advisors are ambassadors of the MJI brand, with proactive communication skills and an evident dedication to client satisfaction.
Primary Responsibilities:
Client Interaction:
Actively listen to clients to understand their needs, using verbal and non-verbal cues to exceed expectations, address concerns, and resolve issues effectively.
Communicate clearly and professionally with service customers, asking pertinent questions and performing test drives when necessary to provide technicians with accurate information.
Conduct thorough vehicle walk-arounds to document the condition of clients’ vehicles upon arrival.
Service Coordination:
Accurately document required maintenance or repair work, set clear and realistic expectations, and provide timely updates on vehicle status.
Present recommended maintenance plans and additional work, articulating the value, associated costs, and time considerations.
Customer Support:
Handle telephone, email, and text inquiries regarding appointments, ongoing work, and general questions, ensuring prompt responses.
Greet clients upon vehicle pick-up, review the work performed, explain charges and warranty coverage, and confirm client satisfaction.
Address and resolve post-service concerns in a timely and professional manner.
Operational Excellence:
Adhere to company policies, departmental best practices, and established procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall success of the service department.

Requirements and Qualifications:
Completion of MJI’s standard screening process, including a comprehensive application, criminal, credit, and driving record checks (where applicable), and in-person interviews.
Minimum of one year of documented experience as a service advisor (preferred).
High school diploma or equivalent.
Authorization to work in the United States.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; must be insurable.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Basic mathematical skills.
Physical demands include:
Frequent movement to greet clients, inspect vehicles, and address shop safety.
Ability to exert force to manipulate objects (up to 20 lbs occasionally, 10 lbs frequently).
Operation of tools and equipment; repetitive motion.
Work environment includes exposure to:
Indoor, outdoor, and shop settings with moving vehicles and mechanical equipment.
Chemicals and moderate-to-loud noise levels.
