The Folktale Group’s vision is to cultivate joy through hospitality, food, wine, and experience. We are seeking an energetic and approachable Lead Host to join our team. The Lead Host plays a crucial role in creating a seamless and enjoyable guest experience by ensuring smooth operations in the Wine Garden. This individual will oversee the Host staff and coordinate seating arrangements, maximizing service efficiency while fostering a welcoming atmosphere. As the first point of contact for guests, the Lead Host sets the tone for a memorable experience and ensures exceptional hospitality.

This position is 30 - 40 hours per week.  $25-30 / hour when including tips!


Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Greet all guests with a friendly, professional demeanor and provide a warm farewell at departure.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for guest inquiries over the phone, providing information, answering questions, and ensuring a positive experience.
  • Recognize regular guests by name and remember their preferences and special needs to deliver personalized service.
  • Guide and mentor the Host staff, ensuring optimal seating assignments to support service flow and maximize team efficiency.
  • Ensure that Wine Educators are informed of guest arrivals and special needs.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in reservation management, including knowledge of booking strategies and full functionality of the Tock reservation system.
  • Collaborate with management to optimize cover counts while balancing business needs with the guest experience.
  • Create a hospitable environment for guests, whether in-person or over the phone, ensuring high service standards and memorable experiences.
  • Act as a liaison between guests, management, service staff, and the kitchen, communicating effectively to ensure seamless service.
  • Oversee the Wine Garden's smooth operation, recognizing Club Members, VIPs, and special occasions, and coordinating with the Lead Educator and management as necessary.
  • Manage guest interactions with poise, addressing and diffusing any difficult situations with professionalism.
  • Set up water dishes and dog treats for guests accompanied by dogs.
  • Contact appropriate staff when a guest has an appointment and ensure they are directed properly.
  • Stay informed of on-site events to direct guests to the correct locations and ensure they are fully informed about available experiences.
  • Assist with phone calls and manage reservation cancellations and adjustments as needed.
  • Support side work as required, including administrative tasks like stuffing envelopes or maintaining a clean workspace.
  • Open and close the host/hostess stand, ensuring proper setup and organization.
  • Regularly sanitize high-touch surfaces and perform other cleaning duties in line with health and safety standards.
  • Engage with Paylocity, the company’s HR platform, for timekeeping and other administrative tasks.
  • Monitor restroom cleanliness throughout shifts, ensuring they are stocked and well-maintained.

Requirements


  • The ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours), walk, sit, reach, bend, stoop, climb, frequently lift up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift/move 50 pounds is required. 
  • This position also requires continual use of manual dexterity and gross motor skills with frequent use of bi-manual dexterity and fine motor skills, and the ability to clearly speak, hear, see, and adjust focus.
