Position Overview:
This outbound freight clerk plays a critical role in our operations as they are responsible for preparing orders for shipment to customer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect for damage and completeness all palletized shipments prior to shipping. Forward damaged or defective cartons for re-packing and re-stack cartons as necessary to ensure load stability during transit. Ensure disks, packing lists, commercial invoices, and/or any other required items or documents are present with the appropriate shipments. Verify carton count as reported by Shippers.
- Wrap pallets with stretch film. Label the exterior as appropriate or directed.
- Drive forklift to move, weigh, or load pallets of packed cartons around the warehouse or onto trucks/trailers as assigned.
- Select proper carrier for shipment in accordance with routing instructions from Management and prepare bills of lading.
- Contact carriers to arrange for pickups as necessary.
- Secure shipping quotes and prepare air bills and other necessary documents as required or directed for international shipments.
- Process and store future shipments. Pull as directed and ship. Forward all necessary information to Supervisor.
- Create and maintain departmental files of various shipping documents as necessary or directed, such as bills of lading, air bills, etc.
- Perform any and all duties of the Packer/Shipper position as necessary or directed.
- Prepare and process all priority shipments.
- Quote all underweight shipments by sending e-mail to designated carriers.
- Keep the cardboard area stocked and organized, and stock packing paper outside packing stations
Requirements:
- 0-3 years of experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Forklift experience a plus
