What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laundry and Supplies Clerk position at Fond du Lac County, WI?

Laundry
- Orders linens routinely Monday through Friday and as necessary.
- Supplies Harbor Haven resident care units and tub rooms with linens daily.
- Supplies Acute Unit, Food Services, and Therapy with linens.
- Empties linen carts and resupplies carts and linen shelves.
- Picks up soiled linens from storage areas and transports to designated area.
- Sorts and separates resident clothes according to units.
- Labels and inventories resident clothes.
- Labels scrubs, sweatpants, and sweatshirts for Acute Unit.
- Communicates with contracted laundry service representative as necessary and reports to supervisor. Addresses service concerns, missing laundry items, etc.
Supply Clerk
- Orders nursing, housekeeping, and laundry supplies.
- Processes supply orders routinely and as necessary for the Nursing Department, including over-the-counter medications and other supplies.
- Fills supply order requests from the Nursing Department.
- Stocks briefs, pull-ups, etc. in resident rooms and on nursing units.
- Fills supply orders for Therapy, Food Services, Housekeeping, Acute Unit, Day Treatment, and Department of Human Services as requested.
- Delivers pallets of products from loading dock to basement and stocks products. Maintains storeroom in a clean and orderly manner.
- Receives quotes from vendors and completes purchase requisitions as directed.
- Meets with supply vendor representatives regularly to discuss product information and pricing.
- Ensures product pricing is affordable and consistent with budget parameters. Researches product alternatives as needed or directed. Discusses purchasing efforts/pricing concerns with department supervisors as necessary.
- Procures PPE (isolation gowns, masks, N95s, gloves, etc.) and delivers to resident rooms and units as necessary. Stocks PPE supply and monitors usage. Reports related supply concerns to supervisor.
- Completes monthly supply reports and annual inventory/audit.
Work Direction Received:
General direction is received from the Director of Environmental Services for laundry service duties. General direction is received from the Director of Nursing relative to supply clerk functions. Daily activities are performed independently.
Interaction:
There is significant interaction with residents, unit staff, other department supervisors, and vendors.
Desirable Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel, with the ability to learn new software when presented. Ability to understand and effectively carry out written and oral instructions and learn routine tasks quickly. Ability to communicate with residents who may have behavioral and/or cognitive needs. Ability to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision. Ability to work cooperatively with and accommodate needs of fellow employees, residents, and visitors.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to push and pull linen carts in excess of 50 pounds with the use of mechanical devices as needed and required. Ability to lift bags of soiled laundry of up to 50 pounds and transfer into another cart. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds of packaged supplies. Ability to bend, stoop, and climb stepladder. Physical ability to accomplish required tasks as previously indicated.
Training and Experience:
Graduation from high school.
