What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Assistant II position at Fond du Lac County, WI?

- Serve as front-line customer and staff contact for UWEX Office. Greet/assist office visitors. Screen telephone calls, and direct to the proper staff person. In educator’s absence, assist in locating pertinent information for caller/visitor as it relates to all program areas.
- Maintain a google filing system, handle and process program logistics.
- Collect program registrations and fees, keep related records, produce registration lists
- Operate office equipment, such as PC, copy machine, fax machine, letter folding machine, postage meter. Support educator in managing newsletters, volunteer data base, program planning, working on timelines for efficiencies, tabulating evaluations, working with marketing specialist on Web updates and social media posts.
- Maintain schedules of programs and participants, responsible for room and equipment set up.
- Work in cooperation with other UW-Madison Extension administrative support professionals as needed to assist on other projects, cover during vacation time and learn new skills together.
- May proctor pesticide applicator test.
- Serve as point person for Community Garden registrations, emails, and data base

Desirable Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of clerical/financial/office management practices and procedures. This position requires strong computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail, internet. Strong organizational and communication skills and ability to interact effectively with the general public. Knowledge of business English, spelling and grammar. Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Creative problem solving, researching and reporting skills, strong oral and written communication skills. This position requires a strong work ethic. Knowledge of workflow, procedures and systems, and ability to do a variety of administrative tasks. Ability to operate a variety of office equipment. Cultural competence in working with protected populations, including race, ethnicity, age, gender, socio-economic. Possess a valid driver’s license.
Training and Experience:
Graduation from high school or the equivalent, supplemented by course work in the administrative assistant/budgeting areas. Previous responsible office management experience. Previous experience with computers is required.
