What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dentist position at Fond du Lac Reservation?
- Responsibilities: Provide routine and emergent dental services in general dentistry including but not limited to: prevention, operative, prosthodontics, oral surgery, endodontics, TMD, orofacial pain, pedodontics, and adjunctive services.
- Due to changes and modifications in the job from time to time, employees are required to be flexible and assume other responsibilities assigned by management as deemed necessary.
Refer to dental specialists as needed.
Act as a clinical lead on services in the absence of the dental coordinator.
Practice by current infection control standards.
Keep updated with current technology and standards of care.
Follow occupational safety guidelines for dental office personnel.
Lead and coordinate prevention activities inside and outside the dental clinic.
Assist in selecting dental supplies, instruments, and equipment.
Attend staff meetings, dentist meetings, and Peer Reviews as scheduled.
Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement activities to improve patient care and clinical efficiency.
Attend continuing education courses and trainings as requested.
Participate on screening committee for new dental employees and provide input on employee evaluations as requested.
Department uniform is required and provided to the employee, which must be worn during scheduled work hours unless prior arrangements have been made with management.
Must attend all mandatory department trainings.
Ensures confidentiality of financial records and all records for employees and/or clients.
Displays a responsive and professional manner in promptly responding to all requests, complaints, and problems.
Recognizes that each employee is a representative of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and is responsible for demonstrating courtesy, respect, and sensitivity to the needs of all others, including visitors and co-workers.
Represents the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and the department in a positive and professional manner in the community.
Required to maintain proper attendance including reporting to work on time in accordance with applicable policies.
Maintains a clean and organized work area.
- Qualifications: No Driver's License is required.
- Prolonged sitting, with some lifting and walking is required.
Minnesota Dentist License is required; if not licensed at the time of hire, employee must become certified/licensed within 30 days of hire. Employee must practice under a fully licensed dentist if not licensed at time of hire. Employment is contingent upon this requirement and must maintain certification for duration of employment.
Must be certified to administer nitrous oxide.
Must have an active DEA License.
Maintain insurance credentialing for providing dental services to a diverse patient group.
BLS certification is required. If not certified at the time of hire, must be certified within 90 days of hire.
Knowledge of computer applications to include word processing, Access, Excel and Microsoft Outlook is required.
Knowledge of Native American communities, culture, customs, and beliefs is preferred.
Experience working with Native Americans clients, communities and is able to demonstrate cultural sensitivity is preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing is required.
Ability to work independently and establish priorities is required.
Attention to detail and accuracy is required.
Ability to establish professional and harmonious working relationships on all projects and with all parties involved.
Subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with the Fond du Lac Reservation’s Personnel Policies.
Subject to pre-employment and annual background checks.
Subject to immunization review and submitted proof of required vaccinations.
