What are the responsibilities and job description for the Resource Management Laborer - Full Time Seasonal position at Fond du Lac Reservation?
- Responsibilities: Assist Resource Management biologists with various survey and monitoring efforts (wildlife, environmental, invasive species prevention, forestry).
- Due to changes and modifications in the job from time to time, employees are required to be flexible and assume other responsibilities assigned by management as deemed necessary.
Assist Resource Management Technicians with treaty harvest management (fish harvest creel, wild rice harvest).
Wild rice management and restoration fieldwork (water level recording, beaver dam removal, reseeding, vegetation management).
Beaver dam removal, beaver trapping, invasive species removal, tree planting as assigned, may operate power saws or brush saws during various activities, such as invasive species removal or logs obstructing stream channels.
Manual labor can include but not limited to tree planting using a planting bar, dibble, shovel or hoedad, invasive species removal by hand pulling, shovel.
Maintains tools in proper working condition.
Maintain project records as directed.
Responsible to follow the FDL Resource Management and FDL Forestry Safety Policies.
Appropriate work attire is required.
Must attend all mandatory department trainings.
Ensures confidentiality of financial records and all records for employees and our clients
Displays a responsive and professional manner in promptly responding to all requests, complaints, and problems.
Recognizes that each employee is a representative of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and is responsible for demonstrating courtesy, respect, and sensitivity to the needs of all others, including visitors and co-workers.
Represents the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and the department in a positive and professional manner in the community.
Required to maintain proper attendance including reporting to work on time in accordance with applicable policies.
Maintains a clean and organized work area.
- Qualifications: Valid U.S. Class D Driver’s License is required and must be insurable under Fond du Lac’s insurance requirements.
- Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, including work in adverse weather conditions.
Demonstrated knowledge of power saw and brush saw operation and safety is required.
Ability to follow instructions is required.
Knowledge of computer applications to include word processing, databases and/or data entry, spreadsheets and Microsoft Outlook is required.
Position requires on-call availability.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing is required.
Ability to work independently and establish priorities is required.
Attention to detail and accuracy is required.
Ability to establish professional and harmonious working relationships on all projects and with all parties involved.
Subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with the Fond du Lac Reservation’s Personnel Policies.
Subject to pre-employment and annual background checks.
Subject to immunization review and submitted proof of required vaccinations.
Travel is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Heavy lifting and carrying are required.
Walking, standing, running, bending, stooping, climbing, pushing, and pulling are required.
