Rate of Pay : $24.47 to $27.53
- Responsibilities: Assist the Traditional Cultural Counselor in developing culturally appropriate health and human service programs, client services and patient care.
- Due to changes and modifications in the job from time to time, employees are required to be flexible and assume other responsibilities assigned by management as deemed necessary.
Provide support for overall cultural programming at FDL Human Services.
Assists the Traditional Cultural Counselor in coordinating, overseeing and providing ceremonies and cultural activities to patients/clients sponsored by HSD.
Act as a spiritual and cultural role model who is free from substance use
Provide traditional teachings and increase the knowledge of traditional healing at FDL Human Services Division and community through awareness, training, and workshops.
Act as a staff resource for traditional medicine topics.
Aid in development and planning of cultural delivery methods to promote patient/client healing.
Assist in planning for and conducting direct cultural programming, training, and delivery of services by the cultural department to Human Services Division and community, through awareness, teachings and workshops.
Ensure delivery and integration of traditional healing practices are facilitated and encouraged throughout FDL Human Services Division and community.
Promote traditional indigenous values.
Always represent self and others in an honest manner

Appropriate/Professional work attire is required.
Must attend all mandatory department trainings.
Ensures confidentiality of financial records and all records for employees and/or clients.
Displays a responsive and professional manner in promptly responding to all requests, complaints, and problems.
Recognizes that each employee is a representative of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and is responsible for demonstrating courtesy, respect, and sensitivity to the needs of all others, including visitors and co-workers.
Represents the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and the department in a positive and professional manner in the community.
Required to maintain proper attendance including reporting to work on time in accordance with applicable policies.
Maintains a clean and organized work area.
- Qualifications: · GED, High School Diploma, or equivalent is preferred.
- Ability to help identify and assist with gathering natural medicines such as cedar, sage, sweetgrass, and much more from the woods and swamps.
· Knowledge of the intergenerational trauma and oral history of the Anishinaabe is required.
· Knowledge of traditional healing practices, customs and beliefs of Anishinaabe lifeways is preferred.
· Knowledge of traditional medicines, plants, herbs, traditional teas, and ointments, which are commonly used by Anishinaabe practitioners is preferred.
· Knowledge of traditional medicine practices use by Anishinaabe Communities for healing is preferred.
· Customary knowledge of traditional healing practices, lodges and ceremonies of the Anishinaabe is preferred.
· Ability to understand and communicate in Anishinaabemowin verbally is preferred.
· Must be aware and abide by HIPAA regulations as they pertain to traditional client care
· Must have the ability to assist with traditional ceremonies.
Knowledge of computer applications to include word processing, data bases and/or data entry, Spreadsheets, and Microsoft Outlook is preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing is required.
Ability to work independently and establish priorities is required.
Attention to detail and accuracy is required.
Ability to establish professional and harmonious working relationships on all projects and with all parties involved.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift 50 pounds or more such as rocks, wood, heavy snow, ceremonial bundles.
Ability to work outside in various kinds of weather or environmental conditions.
Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, reach, bend and sit long hours at a time.
