What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Installation Lead position at Fonroche Lighting America?
Field Installations Lead
Location: Based in Fort Worth, TX – Field-based role with significant travel required, including out of state.
Who We Are
At Fonroche Lighting America, we’re leading the shift toward off-grid, solar-powered lighting systems, helping municipalities and developers build resilient, sustainable infrastructure. Our retrofit projects replace outdated grid-connected lighting with smart, solar-powered solutions, one streetlight at a time.
We operate with a strong set of core values:
- Humility – We listen, learn, and grow together.
- Dynamism – We thrive in a fast-paced, evolving industry.
- Risk Taking – We innovate boldly to drive meaningful change.
- Commitment – We stand by our mission, customers, and team.
- Community & Team Spirit – We achieve more when we work together.
We’re looking for a dedicated, organized, and technically minded Field Installations Lead to manage our daily logistics and support smooth, efficient installation operations in the field.
About the Role
As the Field Installations Lead, you’ll manage just-in-time deliveries of Fonroche solar light kits to active job sites. These kits are staged directly in front of each light pole, ready for a separate city or contractor crew to install. Timing is everything—if the next kit isn’t staged, installers and their bucket trucks sit idle, causing costly delays.
You’ll be in the field the majority of the day, staying ahead of the install crew, prepping kits, and coordinating delivery routes. When the day’s work is done, you’ll return to our Fort Worth warehouse to plan for tomorrow, prep kits, and study maps to make sure every detail is ready to go.
This role requires a balance of logistics, organization, and technical awareness—you’ll need to understand how retrofitting works and make smart decisions about how kits are assembled and staged.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee Just-in-Time Deliveries: Ensure each solar light kit is properly prepped and staged in front of the correct streetlight, ahead of installation crews.
- Field Planning & Navigations: Use provided maps and layouts to understand retrofit locations and create efficient staging plans.
- On-Site Oversight: Be present on active job sites to ensure the flow of installations is smooth, organized, and uninterrupted.
- Technical Field Judgment: Make field-level decisions related to kit preparation, pole type, retrofit compatibility, and staging logistics.
- Prepare & Transport Kits: Assemble kits in the warehouse, load them efficiently, and coordinate delivery with the company van and/or crew.
- Warehouse Prep & Planning: Return to the shop daily to prep kits, load inventory, and plan the next day’s field execution.
- Collaborate & Communicate: Keep project managers and the ops team informed on progress, blockers, and next steps.
What You Bring
- Field or Jobsite Experience: Background in construction, logistics, field operations, or site coordination preferred.
- Technically Savvy: Able to understand the components of a solar light retrofit (pole, base, head, solar panel, etc.) and make smart, site-based decisions on staging and installation readiness.
- Strong Planning & Organizational Skills: Detail-oriented with the ability to plan ahead, prioritize routes, and manage changing field conditions.
- Map Reading & Navigation Skills: Comfortable reading detailed city maps and navigating job sites efficiently.
- Self-Driven & Accountable: You take ownership of daily tasks, anticipate issues, and keep things moving without micromanagement.
- Clear Communicator: Able to provide updates and ask the right questions when on-site decisions need escalation.
- Physically Capable: Must be comfortable lifting, moving, and loading kits—this is a hands-on, active role.
- Bucket-truck & Forklift Certified: A strong plus (or willing to become certified).
- Valid Driver’s License: Required to drive company van and manage kit deliveries.
- On-Site Requirement: This role is based out of our Fort Worth, TX warehouse and substantial travel will be required for this role.
Compensation & Perks
- Salary Range: $55,000 - $60,000 – Your earning potential grows with performance.
- Great Team Culture – We foster a fun, supportive, and high-energy work environment.
- Comprehensive Benefits Package – Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage.
- Generous PTO Policy – Because work-life balance matters.
- Career Growth – This role is designed to develop future leaders in our business.
