Associate – Design and Development
Position Summary:
The Associate will support the Development department and report to the Senior Vice President of Development. The position will involve assisting in managing various aspects of design and development through the entire project lifecycle across multiple categories of assets and project types. Opportunities will include on new ground-up development, repositionings of existing assets, as well as CapEx/project improvement plans.
The role requires strong skills in design coordination and well as basic project management experience. Applicants should have a design background (architecture or interior design) with experience coordinating across consultant types (MEP, Structural, ARCH, etc.) as well as experience in consultant contract and scope management. Role will be focused on owner design management inclusive of management of external design and consultant teams, drawing/drafting comments from ownership to relay externally, visualization and 3d model management, as well as coordination, administrative support, and general project tracking to ensure timely and quality delivery of development objectives.
Projects covered will include condo, hospitality, gaming/entertainment, multi-family, resort, food and beverage. Opportunity to be directly involved as a key development and design team member on a large suite of live projects throughout South Florida with direct exposure to Development Department lead.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in coordinating with architects, engineers, and consultants to ensure project milestones are met.
- Support in preparing and maintaining design consultant scopes and contracts.
- Prepare meeting agendas, attend meetings, and document detailed minutes.
- Capturing and relaying to consultant teams Ownership comments and changes. Tracking to ensure integration to project.
- Drawing and 3d modeling for distribution to consultant teams for integration to drawings sets.
- Management of visualization teams and internal/external rendering processes.
- Entitlement and permitting support for Ownership team, including working with Land Use attorneys
- Oversight of project execution (construction) including experience with shop drawings, punchlists.
- Assist in creation of consultant scopes and contracts.
- Assist in management of incoming invoices from consultant teams.
- Assist with coordination and communication across internal Fontainebleau departments to align project deliverables. This includes legal, sales, construction, finance and accounting departments.
- Support the Development Team leaders in administrative tasks and documentation.
- Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Development on a regular basis.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field. Advanced degree in real estate, business or urban planning is a plus but not required.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in design or development.
- Experience in South Florida and/or New York design or development.
- Proficiency with design tools: Blue Beam, CAD, Sketchup/Revit/Rhino, Adobe CC tools, etc.
- Ability to mark up drawings, draw, and 3d model at a basic level.
- Experience with Microsoft office tools, excel and powerpoint are a plus.
- Ability to assist in creation of design scopes for consultant teams.
- Understanding of the design process and some experience managing design consultants.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent ability to follow up and run down tasks proficiently.
- Based in Miami-Dade region and/or can commute to Aventura Florida daily.
