Job summary
FARE’s Education and Community Engagement department develops and maintains a variety of programs, content, resources, and partnerships to improve the quality of life for all individuals and families facing food allergy, with a focus on advancing health for everyone. An important part of this work is actively engaging and managing volunteers to support community-based initiatives. The Education & Support Program Manager will oversee the day-to-day activities of:
1. FARE’s Recognized Support Groups
2. Community Outreach Awards and stipends
3. Teen Advisory Group, including our monthly Teen Talks and Child Chats series
4. Food Allergy Collaborative
5. CDC-funded Food Allergy AWARE project
6. AAP-funded Food Allergy Management in Schools
7. FARE education scholarships and grants
8. Monthly Webinars Program
9. FARE Education Inbox
10. Administrative support on external Advisory Councils
The Program Manager will work closely with FARE’s Medical Director of CDC- and AAP-funded projects and will also work across the Education and Community Engagement team to support administrative tasks such as creating meeting agenda, meeting minutes, and meeting presentations on various projects as needed.
Essential duties and Responsibilities
· Manage and monitor the FARE Education Inbox, serving as the first line of response for public inquiries related to food allergy and FARE.
·Provide clear and accurate information to individuals and families living with food allergy, support group leaders, educators, and other stakeholders who reach out for assistance.
·Coordinate with internal teams to escalate or address complex inquiries, ensuring seamless communication and resolution.
·Identify trends or frequently asked questions from inbox inquiries and support the development and update of resources to better meet community needs.
·Maintain a knowledge base of FARE’s programs, initiatives, and resources to ensure consistent and informed communication.
·Provide management and administrative support on monthly FARE webinars (under the FARE Medical Director)
·Oversee the existing FARE Recognized Support Groups and the Teen Advisory Group.
o Communicate FARE programs and initiatives to support group leaders and teen advisory group members regularly.
o Develop and support programming for support group leaders (e.g. roundtable discussions) and teen advisory group (e.g. college chats)
· Manage and track support group status, overseeing FARE’s Recognized Support Group webpage to accurately reflect the current state.
· Oversee the successful onboarding and management of new and existing support group leaders. This includes maintaining and updating Support Group Leader training materials, managing and monitoring the FARE Support Group Leader Facebook page and other communications.
· Manage community outreach awards and stipend application process, award process, and reconciliation of funds.
· Work in concert with staff to identify, cultivate, and manage partnerships that amplify FARE’s volunteer activities, particularly in FARE Neighborhoods sites.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities
· At least 5 years of experience working in external stakeholder management and engagement at a non-profit patient advocacy, health promotion, or community health engagement organization
· Knowledge of food allergy preferred
· Excellent, proven project management skills
· Proficiency in phone calls, emails, and other timely communications with external stakeholders are key
· Proven ability to build and nurture strong, collaborative relationships and partnerships that deliver shared value and alignment with organizational goal
· Excellent writing and editing skills
· Experience and comfort with public speaking
· Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
· Ability to collaborate across multiple departments and work both independently and as part of a high-performing team
· Native level proficiency in a second language, both spoken and written, a plus
· Some travel required – up to 10% time.
Education and experience
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience preferred
Salary
$85,000 - $95,000 depending on experience and knowledge of food allergy
