Loss Prevention Specialist

The Loss Prevention Specialist assists the Loss Prevention Department Supervisor conducting internal audits, researching issues and problems regarding audits. The Loss Prevention Specialist contributes to enhancing corporate profits by analyzing existing controls and making recommendations regarding efficient methods to controlling inventory shrink, ways to value inventory, effective internal controls, and consulting regarding security measures.

Education

• Able to maintain extended periods of sitting, standing, reaching, bending
• Able to climb a ladder and maintain balance
• Able to reach a level of 7 feet into the air to count cigarettes using a two-step stepstool
• Able to tolerate incidental exposure to motor fuel and cleaning products
• Able to work in a cooler at a temperature of 35 degrees for 30 minutes and stand up freezer at a temperature of 0 degrees for up to
• Able to work in a stand up freezer at a temperature 0 degrees for up to 30 minutes at a time
• Clarity of vision near/ far distances and acceptable level of hearing
• Able to travel long distances
Travel
• Maintain a valid drivers license and comply with Company Fleet Policy
• Occasional overnight travel

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensures all Loss Prevention audits are conducted consistently and objectively with a focus on continual improvement through partnership and training
• Performs a Loss Prevention audit on all Food Bag Locations in a timely assigned manner.
• Verifies all money is deposited and at the end of the audit accounts for all deposits currently and previously made
• Verifies Lottery Ticket Inventory
• Performs at New Britain Candy a cigarette inventory audit at the end of every month and a full physical inventory audit as scheduled
• Files and copies all paperwork from audits copying all appropriate personnel
• Assists the Loss Prevention Supervisor with Loss Prevention related seminars
• Reviews and files trend charts in a timely manner
• Maintains an updated Company Price Book, Company Policy & Procedures Manual, Hazardous Communication Manual, bulletins and other directives from the home office
• Alerts the Loss Prevention Manager immediately to potential unsafe situations and/or practices found
• Researches and reports inventory audit results that seem unusual or inaccurate to the Loss Prevention Manager
• Looks continually for new ideas to improve department procedures and projects as well as dealing with current and new technology
• Maintains a monthly maintenance chart for department vehicles
• Performs Quarterly Risk Prevention Reports at Corporate sites
• Runs monthly departmental meetings as assigned
• Provides background checks for new employees as requested
• Handles counterfeit bill reporting/filling
• Creates, updates, and follows up as needed regarding loss prevention case files
• Completes additional tasks as requested or assigned by the Loss Prevention Manager
