What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cargo Van Courier Needed (Independent Contractor) position at Food Connect?
What We’re Looking For:
We’re seeking 1–2 Independent Contractors who are responsible, reliable, and community-minded to transport food donations and meals to various locations in and around the Twin Cities area. We’re looking for an upbeat, civic-minded individual with good interpersonal skills who wants to make a difference in hunger relief efforts.
Driver Requirements:
- Must be 18 or older
- Valid driver’s license
- Own a cargo van
- Current auto insurance
- Comfortable using mobile apps for navigation and communication
- Own a smartphone
- Live in the Twin Cities area
- Able to lift at least 50 pounds
- Must pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check
- Must pass a background check
Hours:
Monday–Friday 9 AM–2 PM (Hours may vary depending on delivery needs.)
Additional hours available (9 AM–5 PM) starting in mid to late March.

As an Independent Contractor with Food Connect, your day may include:
- Picking up prepared meals from local restaurants and delivering them to shelters
- Transporting fresh produce boxes to the homes of food-insecure seniors
- Partnering with our team to reduce food waste and fight hunger
