Position Summary
Responsible for collaborating with leadership team in the implementation of a selling organization culture with a consumer-centric focus through Merchandising responsibilities. Responsible for the implementation and communication of department programs that support the banners overall go to market strategies. Contributes to the planning and development of merchandising objectives. Work in collaboration with Category and Pricing peers in support of Sales Development, Supplier Relations, Net Contribution Management, and the Development and Execution of Banner Merchandising Strategy
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
• Responsible for the creation of programs, initiatives and tactics in collaboration with CMP and Banner marketing that deliver on banner strategy. Oversee team with responsibilities to establish the standard practices, retail communication and procedures that facilitate the execution of our merchandising strategy at retail.
• Responsible for the implementation of merchandising objectives, in support of organizational goals within fresh departments (i.e. Produce, Meat/Seafood, HMS/Deli/Bake).
• Provide day to day direction for implementation and support of Merchandising strategies and initiatives.
• Manage team of Field Specialists and ensure they are acting effectively as the regional resource for merchandising programs, initiatives and standard practices.
• Collaborate with VP of Merchandising on the planning and development of merchandising objectives.
• Collaborate with Field Merchandising Managers on the effectiveness of merchandising programs, initiatives and standard practices.
• Lead efforts that cross multiple categories and/or fresh departments within Merchandising to achieve organizational objectives.
• Clearly communicate, promote, and support department strategy, initiatives and goals, as well as the company initiatives and goals.
• Work collaboratively with Category, Pricing, Marketing, Retail Operations/Services and, at times, the vendor/broker/DSD community to ensure all programs are properly implemented.
• Collaborate with Category and Marketing on co-marketing and integrated business plans.
• Collaborate with appropriate functional areas in the development of new store prototype and fixture planning, as well as store remodels.
• Represent Merchandising and/or Fresh on assigned projects and daily operations.
• Maintain effective communication with Retail Operations to ensure awareness and appropriate understanding of strategy, programs, initiatives and standard practices.
• Provide regular retail visits to monitor implementation of department programs, gather insights into customer's shopping experience and opportunities to improve this experience.
• Monitor industry and regional competitor trends in product packaging, equipment and systems and merchandising applications/programs.
• Provide leadership that will motivate employees and function as an effective promoter of change and growth.
• Provide support for the implementation of a continuous improvement culture
• Lead and/or serve as a member of key teams and committees as needed
• Responsible for the development, talent planning and performance management of associates.
• Significant amount of communication and collaboration with retail

Basic Qualifications
- Experience with organizational change management
- 2 years of multiple retail location responsibility
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
- Experience with retail operations leadership
- Strong financial planning and budgeting experience
- Cross-functional leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to build cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated management expertise
- Demonstrated relationship management experience with vendors, brokers and third party consultants
- Seasoned level of knowledge for company, business and industry practice
Experience
- Minimum of 8 years combined experience in retail, merchandising, category, pricing, logistics, supply chain, procurement, and distribution
- Experience with retail operations leadership
- Extensive knowledge of Fresh Categories include, but are not limited to: Produce, Meat/Seafood, HMS/Deli/Bakery
- Strong financial planning and budgeting experience
- Cross-functional leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to build cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated management expertise
- Demonstrated relationship management experience with vendors, brokers and third party consultants
- Seasoned level of knowledge for company, business and industry practices
