We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced 3 and 5 Axis Milling Machinist to join our dynamic team in Colorado Springs. As a key member of our manufacturing operations, you will be responsible for the precise setup, operation, and maintenance of advanced 3 and 5 axis milling machines. Responsibilities:
- Expertly set up and operate 3 and 5 axis milling machines to produce precision parts according to stringent specifications.
- Accurately interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation to ensure precise machining.
- Conduct thorough inspections of finished products utilizing a variety of precision measurement tools to verify adherence to quality standards and specifications.
- Collaborate effectively with engineers and other team members to identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency improvements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and procedures.
Qualifications:
Required Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree, military training, or certification in machining or a related field is highly preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience operating both 3 and 5 axis milling machines.
- Proven experience working with tight tolerances and producing precision parts.
- Solid understanding and application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Demonstrated proficiency in using various metrology and measuring tools.
- Comprehensive knowledge of machining principles, techniques, and best practices.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a keen attention to detail.
- Strong ability to accurately read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks.
Desired Experience:
- Experience with CAD/CAM software for programming and simulation.
- Familiarity with tool grinding processes and techniques.
- Experience operating Swiss-style lathes.
- Proficiency in using advanced metrology equipment, such as Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs).
- Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) processes.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to safely lift and move materials weighing up to 35 pounds.
- Ability to stand for extended periods while operating machinery.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for precise machine operation and handling of small parts.
