Position Title: Assistant Transportation Manager
Exempt Status: Exempt
Accountable To: Transportation Manager
Job Summary: The Assistant Transportation Manager will lead, train, and develop our Class A
Delivery Drivers at our various locations - all while improving delivery
efficiency, and providing support as needed to the transportation
department.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers, serving as a role model
and a resource to them.
• Ensure compliance of DOT safety regulations for all drivers.
• Ability to coordinate, maintain and ensure all delivery equipment is in proper working order
and DOT compliant.
• Ensure accurate planning, routing, and execution of deliveries.
• Conduct training of new drivers and provide them with the proper support.
• Introduce new procedures and technology and assist with training.
• Fill in for unavailable team members, whether that be management or routing
• Assist in managing expenses and overtime of department.
• Ability to strategize and independently resolve problems that arise.
• Must possess strong leadership qualities and build strong relationships with each member
of the transportation team.
• Performs administrative duties as assigned by the Transportation Manager.
• *This position requires travel to various depots to work with drivers, review deliveries,
safety procedures and DOT requirements.
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Must possess a valid Class A Driver’s license.
• Knowledge of DOT requirements and laws.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills that can be used effectively
across team members.
• Meets or exceeds Core Values
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with routing and delivery processes.
• Working knowledge of email and internet applications.
• Familiarity with spreadsheets and word processing.Education & Experience:
• Extensive knowledge of DOT Compliance and Regulations.
• Five years or more in the management of foodservice warehouse and/or transportation
operations required (combination of other education/experiences will also be considered)
