Summary
Assists with ordering, receiving, stocking and display of produce and related product, maintains department cleanliness, and provides outstanding customer service. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Stock, maintain, and rotate produce and salad bar per expectations of the Produce Manager.
- Stocks (including washing, bundling and trimming), rotates, merchandises and faces product according to department procedure.
- Properly maintain produce wet rack.
- Maintains knowledge of produce, with an emphasis on organic production, and provides information to customers regarding use and preparation.
- Maintain sample product on floor (rotate, maintain, and dispose of as needed).
- Orders Product as requested.
- Receives product deliveries, ensuring order and invoice accuracy in accordance with company policy.
- Accurately document and disposes of culls according to department procedure.
- Maintains back-stock areas according to department standards.
- Assists in cashiering when needed.

- Greet all customers, make them feel welcome to shop and offer suggestions/answers as needed.
- Knows and adheres to quality standards for customer service as outlined by our employee handbook and as trained by the Produce Manager.
- Adheres to all guidelines around product recommendation and information.
- Assists in any other departments as needed.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as invoices and the Employee Handbook.
- Participates actively in department team and all-staff meetings.
- Knows and promotes Food Matters Market principles.
- Understands Food Matters Market’s Mission and Values.

- Closing shifts report to M.O.D. for department check out prior to clocking out.
- Performs tasks consistently at an acceptable rate as outlined by Produce Manager

- Achieves established goals and expected results for the department.
- Maintains safe work environment according to all department procedures, federal and state regulations.
- Uses safe working practices and attends safety training for department staff.
- Ability to prioritize work tasks, multi-task, and maintain focus.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers.
Requirements
Education, Credentials, Certification, and/or Experience
- Minimum 1 years’ experience with produce in a grocery store setting
- Minimum 3 years’ retail sales, preferable in the grocery store business
- Previous customer service experience.
- Experience or interest in natural foods.
Working Environment
This position is exposed to dust, noise, and temperature extremes. There are possible equipment movement hazards, electrical shock, and exposure to chemicals and solvents. This is a fast-paced work environment.

- Must be able to physically perform light work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
