Job Summary

Responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of food samples to our laboratory testing facility. Supervise drivers, login technicians, and inventory control specialists in the completion of their daily job functions. Monitor job performance, assist in training where needed with emphasis on new employees. Manage and schedule drivers to meet or exceed all customers’ expectations and provide exceptional customer service. Manage inventory levels for customers. Operate a company vehicle as needed.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Insure all employees comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Lead a team of employees by:
  • Setting work schedules & approving time.
  • Approving PTO.
  • Organizing / approving courier / inventory purchases (maintenance, gas, supplies, etc.).
  • Establishing effect routes to minimize cost of picking up customer samples.
  • Resolve employee issues and conflicts.
  • Oversee vehicle maintenance program:
  • Using GPS service to determine when to have routine maintenance completed.
  • Determine where to take vehicle for service.
  • Maintain maintenance logs and schedule using online tool (Nextraq currently).
  • Maintain internal and external cleanliness of company vehicles.
  • Manage and schedule couriers, coordinate pick-ups, and delivery of supplies to meet or exceed all customers’ expectations.
  • Communicate with clients to establish needs, including special pickups (extra, holidays, weekends, etc.), and assure customer supplies and return coolers are shipped in a timely manner.
  • Oversee, approve, and deliver accurate courier / inventory control expense reports, credit card billing statements, toll upkeep, and gas & maintenance receipts.
  • Will be responsible for maintenance of company facility according to established schedules.
  • Maintain courier logs and review monthly for quality.
  • Maintain parking lot and area around building. Coordinate weekly trash pickup.
  • Drive safety results.
  • Assign and update Drivers Alert & driver training.
  • Ensure couriers are up to date with the corporate list.
  • Conduct monthly vehicle and safety audits.
  • Complete all collision and injury reports accurately and timely, according to company policy.
  • Drive company initiatives to improve productivity and efficiencies.
  • Maintain laboratory conditions, to include equipment, supplies, quality assurance programs, and accurate records throughout all procedures
  • Manage inventory supply levels for the lab.
  • Manage shipping and receiving of FedEx and chains of custody
  • May be required to be on-call to coordinate after hours pickups or cover shifts as needed
  • Other duties, including Courier and Log in duties, as assigned. Management retains the discretion to add to or change the duties of the position at any time.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; participating in the performance management process; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • 2 years of professional driving experience is preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Must have a current, valid driver’s license issued in the State of operation.
  • A driving record with no DUI’s and no major moving violations or accidents within the past 60 months.
  • Selected applicant must be eligible to possess a company credit card which requires a good credit rating with the major credit reporting companies. A credit history will verify information.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, dependability and initiative in prior work experience.
  • Basic knowledge of concepts and practices of a testing laboratory preferred.
  • Proficient with customer service, inventory systems, and lab information management systems

  • Mathematical Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; Ability to perform financial calculations, compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
