TITLE: Food Service Worker - PART-TIME
WORK HOURS: Monday-Friday, 10am-2pm (while school is in session)
SUMMARY: Reporting to the Director of Food Services, the Food Service Worker is responsible for assisting with the operation of a school cafeteria including food preparation, counter service, and serving, and securing administrative and supervisory work for coordinating the provision of food services to all school students, faculty, and staff as well as addressing all other work related to food services. Assist other food service staff to ensure the students and faculty receive a safe, nutritious meal.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists in food preparation as directed by the cook.
Helps set up counters and serving areas.
Helps pack and secure food for transport to satellite locations.
Collection and washing of dishes, trays, silverware, cooking utensils, and food prepware, and placing them in their normal storage areas when not in use.
Cleans, sanitizes, and maintains all kitchen and cafeteria areas
Sweeps, washes tables, stocks, and cleans equipment.
Assists in serving lunch using portion control.
Cashier duties include accuracy in money handling, and ensuring reimbursable meal pattern requirements are being met by students.
Ensure menus are posted on a daily basis.
Any other work deemed necessary by the Director of Food Services.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent. Previous food service experience preferred. Serv-Safe certified or willing to take the course.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of meal production, quality food preparation, sanitation, use and care of institutional equipment and utensils; procedures used in ordering, receiving, storing, and inventorying of food and supplies; and health and safety rules and regulations pertaining to food establishments including sanitation and maintenance regulations.
Skills-based competencies include managing and coordinating the day-to-day food service operation at assigned multiple school sites; operating computer equipment and software; and effective communication.
Ability-based competencies include assuring compliance with district, state and federal requirements; training others in the preparation and service of food in large quantities; comprehending and explaining rules, regulations, policies and procedures; and working independently with little direction.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, light to moderate physical effort is required; frequently required to move/transport heavy objects up to 40 lbs.; remain in a stationary position for extended periods; and position oneself to access equipment or inventory. WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The job is generally performed indoors with infrequent exposure to outdoor weather. The noise level is usually moderate to loud but occasionally high depending on the student population.
