Food Service Delivery -Temporary 

(Needed until May 23, 2025)



Location: Career Center

Reports to: Kitchen Manager and Nutrition Food Service Director

Supervises: None

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Any combination of education, experience and training
  • Possess a valid Wyoming Driver’s License
  • Attention to detail
  • Basic math, interpersonal and basic communication skills. 
  • Ability to deal with children, as well as children with special needs.

 

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED  QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

 

POSITION SUMMARY

Drives truck over established route to deliver food, supplies, and correspondence.  Organizes and verifies that all deliveries from vendors and orders are accurately filled; loads, and unloads items being transported; handles perishable and other items in a manner which ensures maintenance of quality standards.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Load trucks with allocated products.
  • Drive trucks to deliver such items as cooked and raw food products, paper goods, cleaning supplies, correspondence.
  • Follow safety, sanitation, standard processes, as well as handle food items correctly to meet Federal, State, and Departmental guidelines. 
  • Complete daily pre-operational assessment and checklist of the District transport vehicle.
  • Work in partnership with assigned kitchen staff to confirm the accuracy of orders being filled by completing checklists and special order sheets.
  • Deliver provided quantities of items to correct locations according to schedule.
  • Transfer all items in a manner that preserves quality and safety from truck to designated delivery area.
  • Participate in the transportation needs for special events.
  • Attend training and development classes and work site meetings as required by the Nutrition Food Service Director.
  • Maintain a professional appearance at all times.
  • Practice safe lifting techniques.
  • Mop and clean work area.
  • Assist in stocking storage areas with food and non-food supplies following the First In First Out (FIFO) procedure. 
  • Maintain organization, proper labeling, dating, and rotation of product in dry storage, coolers, and freezers.
  • Work in partnership with the Kitchen Manager and/or Nutrition Food Service Director to receive, separate, label and organize all orders going to the designated delivery sites.
  • Assist in the inventory of all food, supplies and equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Adapt to specific or new work situations as needed.
  • Seek appropriate additional tasks when assigned work is completed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Application of position knowledge to determine the most efficient means to complete assigned duties while meeting federal, state, department, and district guidelines. 
  • Decision making skills in collaboration with Kitchen Manager and Nutrition Food Service Director.
  • Must be able to complete a diversity of duties that require safety and sanitation, operation of a District Truck, following Health Department regulations, federal program requirements and procedures, department and district policies and procedures, and customer service.
  • Ability to apply safety to self and others

  • Works independently with little direct supervision

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as policies and regulations, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine correspondence. Ability to read, write and understand English in both verbal and written instructions.


MENTAL FUNCTIONS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate, coordinate, and use interpersonal skills. The employee will also frequently be required to compare, analyze, and instruct, while also being required to copy, compile and negotiate.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee may be required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, lift, carry, push, and/or pull various pieces of equipment. The employee may also be required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl. Generally the job requires regularly lifting of up to 50 pounds and may occasionally require lifting or moving up to 75 pounds using a team lift.

 

The environmental demands described here are representative of those that an employee may experience while performing the essential functions of the job. The employee will frequently be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, along with moving mechanical parts. The employee will also have daily exposure to cooking equipment which could cause injuries, and may also have some periodic exposure to heat, heated elements and cold elements in refrigerated compartments, along with outside weather conditions such as, but not limited to, extreme cold or extreme heat. The employee may also have some exposure to fumes and colors, and limited exposure to electrical and mechanical hazards, along with some exposure to caustic and toxic chemicals used in cleaning.  The majority of this position’s duties are performed both inside and outside of the school building. The employee may have occasional exposure to noise from machinery and Students.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and an ability to adjust focus. 

 

EVALUATION

Performance on this job will be evaluated by the Nutrition Food Service Director in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of certified or classified personnel.

 

SALARY SCHEDULE

This position will be paid according to the approved Classified Food Service Wage Schedule.

Temporary- until  May 23, 2025 6:30am-12:30pm


CLEARANCES

Employment is contingent on a local, state, and federal criminal background clearance, along with a District investigation of driving record.
