Role Description:
The Quality Control Associate will be responsible for facilitating, monitoring, and implementing quality systems and activities to support commercial production. The QC Associate will carry out daily activities directly related to production processes including manufacturing line support, documentation review, and laboratory analysis. The Associate will also support systems including Food Safety/HACCP, non-conformance tracking, sanitation/cleaning/CIP programs, GMP programs and ingredient purchasing. The Associate will be expected to develop an expertise in both the food products and production processes and represent the quality group on cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities:
- Perform sanitation inspections, equipment calibrations, temperature monitoring, and report deficiencies. Perform routine HACCP monitoring
- Inspect products at various stages of the production process. Perform sampling on raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods.
- Perform routine quality control test procedures, including pH, aw, net weights, package code, label inspections as per needed.
- Perform self-inspection and internal audit of the facility.
- Inspect incoming raw materials, packaging materials and outgoing finished goods for quality documentation.
- Actively and effectively communicate with various plant personnel to ensure product problems are prevented.
- Communicate directly with QA Manager to determine quality /safety issues and implement corrective action requirements
- Maintain documentation for regulatory compliance using computers, paper or other means
- Other duties are performed as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in food science, microbiology, etc. or 3 years’ experience in a food manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of HACCP and food safety & quality systems
- Knowledge on sanitation and environmental monitoring program
- Proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel
- Driven, self-starter, able to work on various projects and roles in a fast-paced, rapidly changing startup environment
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within an intimate team
