Director of Sales and Marketing Natural COLORS & Organic IngredientsRemote- Northeast/Midwest/ Southbased with travelOur client is a 80 yr old, family owned specialty-ingredient manufacturer for the food, beverage, cosmetic and personal care industries. They have been steadily growing and sell a portfolio of specialty ingredients including food/beverage colors, release agents, processing aides, emulsifiers and other natural ingredients.They are currently looking to hire a Director of Sales and Marketing to manage their team and grow Sales. The ideal candidate will have experience selling specialty ingredients to food, beverage and/or cosmetic manufacturers and know how to manage and grow our sales and marketing teams. The candidate should have several years of experience selling Food COLORS and have cultivated solid, long-standing relationships with customers. While they would prefer a candidate based in the NY/NJ area, they are open to hiring someone based remotely if they have prior success leading teams remotely. Additionally, they are looking for someone who has a technical understanding of food ingredients and food science.RESPONSIBILITIESManaging the entire sales and marketing teams, including regular checkins with employees (ex. weekly 1:1) to ensure employee growth and training, leading team meetings to make sure information is dispersed across the department, and review sales and marketing analytics and make changes as needed.Managing the company CRM system and coordinating with IT to ensure accuracy.Attend monthly management meetings and be a key contributor to the growth and improvement of the company as a whole.An extremely high level of communication skills (including listening, talking and writing). You should be able to comfortably communicate both at a laymen's level as well as at a technical level about our products. And you should know when it is appropriate to do either.Extreme professionalism and leadership skills. You will be a significant representative of the company and your actions should reflect that both internally and outside our company.Identify new business opportunities and develop relationships with potential clients.Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, competitive landscape, and customer needs. Managing all aspects of our presence at trade shows and utilizing sales and marketing employees as needed to execute the company's vision.Regular business travel to visit customers and prospective customers. Trips may include coordinating with IFC sales reps or 3rd party brokers.Working with management to bring innovative ideas for growth and expansion.REQUIREMENTSA Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science or Chemistry is preferred but a degree in Life Science is welcome as well.8 Years of experience working in sales or business development at an ingredient manufacturing or distribution company selling to food or cosmetic manufacturers.Experience and understanding of marketing principals (ex. SEO, email campaigns, tradeshow booth design, advertising).Have a strong understanding of ingredient regulations in the US. Bonus points for Canada and Mexico as well!Experience working and coordinating with 3rd party ingredient brokers.Experience leading a sales team and overseeing sales globally.Have a proven track record of building out sales teams (hiring, assigning territories, training, creating quotas, tracking pipelines, etc.).Experience Managing all aspects of a CRM system and making sure information is accurate and up to date.Experience working cross-departmentally to ensure good communication between departments and good timely information exchange.Have a strong business and project management mindsetA high degree of competency with the Microsoft Office Suite of programsPrefer candidate based in the NortheastThe willingness and ability to travel 50% of the time.Must be fluent in English.
